Album NotesArrangers: Ernie Freeman; Gus Levene; Nelson Riddle; Paul Weston; Bill Justis. This album is the first product of the agreement between Capitol Records (which controls Dean Martin's 1948-61 recordings) and Martin's estate (which controls the recordings he made from 1962 on). It contains eight tracks from Capitol and eight originally released on Reprise Records, including (for the first time on one album) all of Martin's biggest hits, seven Top Ten tracks, among them the gold singles "That's Amore," "Memories Are Made of This" and "Everybody Loves Somebody." Beyond the major hits, the selection mostly consists of other chart records, though not necessarily the most successful ones, and the non-chronological sequencing makes for a curious listen, since the style of Martin's '50s and '60s hits is so different. Though it runs less than 42 minutes and leaves a lot to be desired, as of the date of its release, it is the only place to get Martin's most popular recordings on a single disc. ~ William Ruhlmann
