Album Notes
Reissue Producer: Ernst Mikael Jorgensen, Roger Semon. All tracks have been digitally remastered.Personnel: Elvis Presley (vocals, guitar).Had Elvis Presley done nothing else but record "That's Alright, Mama," his place in pop music history would be secure. With his first regional hit, Presley fused rhythm and blues with country, put a handsome white face out front for audiences to see, and in so doing legitimized beat music for white audiences. It is no understatement to call Presley the chief catalyst of the rock-and-roll era. During the 1950s, Presley's records spent a collective 53 weeks in the number one chart position. Only the Beatles can boast similar sales success.Presley's monumental accomplishments continued until his death in 1977. After a stint in the Army, he spent a decade making profitable but forgettable movies. Then in 1968 he re-established his artistic relevance with a spectacular television special and several great albums. During the last decade of his career, Presley's live show was the hottest ticket in America. A great singer first and last, Presley was equally adept at raunchy blues, lilting boogie, operatic pop, and country tear-jerkers.

OK, I like the songs on this CD. They are great, and it's Elvis at his best and Elvis at the charts. BUT, we have too many of these "greatest hits" collections already. I bet that if you have a couple of Elvis' hits collections, you already have every song before. And if you do have them, don't buy the same song again. Unless, off course, you're a collector. Then you need it...
My average grade is not for the music (music... it's excellent), but for the package. Nothing new, nothing added to any Elvis collection, but an average collection of great Elvis songs.

I really like Elvis, but am not a DIE HARD fan, so this is the 1st Elvis CD I've owned(I've heard his music all of my life & love it). It's got all his Rockin' goodies & although I was born the year before he died, I still know all the words to most of these songs!!

This is the best Elvis CD I have come across. Its a must for any Elvis fan and a must have for ANY collection. Every single song is one to sing along or dance to. No obscurities here.

Most of elvis' best songs are on this cd. I would like to have more of his lesser known songs , like good time charlie or funny how time slips away. I would still recomemend this cd.
