The Greatest Story Ever Told (DVD)
Created: 08/04/08
Any story told about Jesus is considered the "Greatest Story Ever Told". This is one of the older versions of the Easter story about Jesus' last days on earth and about the crucifixion & resurrection.
It's hard to get used to the actors who portrayed Jesus, after seeing others portray Jesus after this movie. It has many actors in the movie as John Wayne, who says one line at the end; But then you see in this movies the actors, like John Wayne, Sal Mineo, Victor Bruno, Jose Ferrer, ROddy McDowell, Dorothy McGuire, Donald Pleasance, Telly Savalas, Shelley Winters and Ed Wynn..are all deceased. These people that were chosen were Christians. I am sure, too, the rest of the cast are Christians, too.
On the back of the case, it reads "this is a glorious epic of an inspiring, grand scale re-creation of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, from His humble birth and teachings to His crucifixion and ultimate resurrection."
This movie is rare, because you can't find this movie any place anymore. Sometimes, you may have to special order it with another movie company,(Movies Unlimited), but if you can't find something like this you want, try Ebay first and chances are you'll find what you are looking for!

TRUEST --- or seemingly the closest rendetion of the truth of Jesus introduction and life. I've seen alot but this one is the best hands down.
Max Von Sydow is a very average looking man.
that is what the Bible reflects about the man -------(Jesus Christ.)
Charleton Heston does a great John the Baptist.
ALL AROUND GREAT MOVIE !!!!!

SOLOMN OR STOEIC
Created: 11/03/09
This film is very, very solomn and stoeic. The portrayal of Jesus is cold feeling. The only caring that I saw was when Lazarus died. Jesus in this film shed a small tear and a bit of anquish. Mary and Martha were angery with him for not having come sooner, blaming Jesus in a sinical sort of attitude that had he been there "our brother would not have died." It was the way it was said that bothered me. The Kings castles are totally gray cement and no warmth at all, no furnishings, nothing one would expect of a Kings castle.
I prefer Hollywoods "Grand Style" of movies with lots of color and expression. This is not the portrayal of Jesus for me. Plus, the biblical chronology of events and quotes are not in order. They are all jumbled up.
If looking for a really good film about the life of Christ watch "the Gospel Of John" with Henry Ian Cusick as Jesus. He does a really great portrayal. Word for Word from the KJV.

great film...for 1965 you definately cant complain....this is a movie i watch when i feel like watching something relative to Jesus and want to keep away from worldly tv shows and movies.....ive watched this movie like 30 times....one time my friend was over and we watched it then i think an hour later i put it on again and she said "we just watched this" so i turned it off...its not the bible words exactly but its like a preacher, you need to distinguish your beliefs...i cant pin point anything that goes outside the bible to contradict what i believe...just basically things were added in that "could've" been said but not necessarily were...if you can handle 1965 films and prefer Jesus movies to worldly movies this definately has my recommendation
