The Green Berets
Created: 11/07/09
In a classic war movie during the Vietnam War, John Wayne plays the part of
Gung-ho Army Col. Mike Kirby. This movie is kind of divided into two segments
the first, dealing with Col Kirby taking command of a firebase in Vietnam and
commanding a Green Beret Alpha team or advisor team that oversees the base
that is manned by mostly Vietnamese troops. This segment shows the workings
of the team and an assault by Viet Cong / North Vietnamese army to destroy
the base and take over the near-by areas. In this segment David Janssen (Tv
series The Fugitive) co-stars as a skeptical reporter that accompanies Kirby
on a mission and during the assault on the firebase. Good action ensues in
the fight for the base. The second segment of the movie, is more of an undercover mission to kidnap an enemy general, and while a bit slower than
the opening segment, is good enough. Although there are a few visable flaws
such as the pine trees and oaks being in Vietnam, the action is typical Wayne,
who also directed the film which was a big success-despite its hawkish stand-
at the box office. GREAT classic movie, that war movie lovers need in their
collections.

THE Vietnam War movie of all time
Created: 26/03/07
This 2007 DVD seems to have had some re-work done to it to clean it up a bit and enhance certain scenes. It's not for everyone but it does provoke discussions. This is generally considered THE Vietnam War film of all time. If you study the Vietnam War and/or the 1960s, you need to see this movie. Whether you agree or disagree with the film, it's a viewpoint that requires consideration. John Wayne and a host of others star in this classic Vietnam War film that's based on a special forces unit called "the Green Berets". The extra features shouldn't be missed. It definately belongs in a collection. Please note that this review is made with no knowledge of the potential seller.

If you like the Duke or war movies then you must see this one!!!!! this movie actually was john wayne stepping out against the media and the movie industry by supporting the war effort! It is a fantastic movie about how misunderstood the war against Vietnam was and how much the soilders over there suffered. More than well worth the money, definatley one of John Wayne's best.
