Movie synopsis
This wacky 1970s time capsule is notable for its format, themes, and no-holds-barred parodies of network television--news reports, commercials, and sitcoms. THE GROOVE TUBE probably takes a cue from British comedy troupes like Monty Python. A raunchy precursor to films like KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE and AMAZON WOMEN ON THE MOON, as well as television sketch comedy from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE to THE KIDS IN THE HALL, THE GROOVE TUBE is also notable for early appearances from Chevy Chase and Richard Belzer.The Groove Tube's real attractions are its acute observations of the details of television, and its capturing of the zeitgeist to perfection.

) i bought this dvd because i saw it when i was a teenager in the day ,,it was pretty good ,,gives you a flash back to the day people were more relaxed with films in general,,and there content,,if you like old saturday night live ,you will like this one ,3 stars ,chevy chase (saterday night live ),richard bellzer (from ny pd blue MUNCH,)and ,k shapiro,,there are many skits ,some you have to remember the old commercials from that era,,very funny parts ,,if you like old mel brooks ,,you will like this one

) this was one of thse wonderful cult movies of the 1970s. It was a precursor to Saturday Night live. The movie consists of a series of sketches, some are overplayed, but they all are inventive. The Voiceover is extremely good! You'll get to see a young Chevy Chase, without the pratfalls. Another of the emerging comics is Richard Belzer. You actually get to see him without his glasses. The pseudo ads are the forerunners of the mock ads you see on Saturday Night Live. It's a little over an hours of tong in cheek humor that's well worth watching.

) A hilarous movie that could claim along with the Kentucky Fried Movie that it inspired future movies like Naked Gun, Scarry Movie, Hot Shots and others to
poke fun at commercials and other movies. This was a movie I enjoyed growing up in the 70's and to be able to now find it and own it on DVD brings the memory of my youth back to relive forever. It was probably the movie that launched Chevy Chases career. Truley tastless but histerical as we wouldn't have it any other way!

A very funny cult film!!!

A hilarious film that pokes fun at television. Bought at great price as well!!! A chance to see Chevy Chase and Richard Belzer before they became successful on mainstream television.
