Your literacy curriculum needs this manual!

    Created: 28/09/06
Fountas and Pinnell's book on teaching reading and writing is one widely used in many different schools. It is the foundation for the literacy program at my own school, and it has been key in helping me develop good solid lessons for teaching my students how to choose books, how to be active readers, how to participate in guided reading groups, and how to write effective summaries and responses. In addition to containing a lot of research, action research and anecdotal information, this book also contains a few lists, guides, and lessons that are helpful to all teachers of literacy. Although I teach sixth grade and am on the tail-end of the lessons presented here, I have found them just as valuable as some primary teachers I know. If you're looking for a good place to start when it comes to literacy, then this is the book for you.

    Struggling with your literacy program?

     | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
    Created: 02/10/11
This book gives guidance and ideas for getting a great literacy program off to a great start with lesson plans for the first 20 days. It is full of ideas on how to assist students in progressing their reading. It also gives practical ideas for writing and how to set up a writing workshop. Great for the first year teacher or the seasoned teacher. It does answer most questions that a teacher would have about any topic within the literacy realm.

Though this book might seem daunting due to it's size, it is a must have for any teacher of reading. No need to read cover to cover, but whatever you are looking for in regards to reading workshop, teaching reading, encouraging struggling readers and taking advanced readers even further, you'll find it in this book.

    Created: 12/09/09
This is a great book. It is very useful in my classroom on a day to day basis. I have used it in the past at another school and ordered myself a copy to use. I use it all the time for resources and reminders.
