Product Information
The stand-alone Guild Wars: Factions is the second campaign in ArenaNet's massively multiplayer online RPG, The Factions campaign, which can be played either connected with the regular Guild Wars or as its own separate game. Guild Wars Factions takes place on the continent of Cantha, where new and existing Guild Wars players join an epic quest to defeat an ancient evil and save a war-torn empire. New scored challenge missions and strategic competitive missions allow players to test their roleplaying prowess and earn the right for their alliance to take control of cities, towns and outposts. Large-scale alliance battles pit teams from opposing factions against each other in a struggle to conquer new territory and redraw the battle lines across the continent of Cantha. New elite missions allow the most skilled players exclusive access to areas of the ultimate cooperative challenge.

Guild Wars: Factions rules!

Created: 07/02/07
This is the first Guild Wars game I ever played even though it's the second release in the series. It can be played as a stand-alone game; the other two expansions are not required, although if you want to be able to explore the whole Guild Wars world you need all three. The game is very detailed and is a lot of fun. There are many, many hours of gameplay here and it's a lot of fun to interact with other players from around the world. It's a very challenging game as well, particularly in the combat system. It takes some time to get used to, but it's very satisfying to find a set of skills for your character which work well together. If you buy this game, I highly recommend that you visit the Guild Wars website and look under the Community section for links to fansites... there's a site called Guildwiki that is invaluable for any player, particularly a beginner. You can find out anything you need to know about playing the game from this site. Oh, yeah, and the best thing about this game is that there is no monthly charge to play it like with other online games. Once you buy the game, it's absolutely free to play from then on. I love the game and recommend it to anyone who likes a good fantasy role-playing experience.

Great MMORPG With no Monthly Charges

Created: 22/02/10
Like online play but hate the monthly charges. This is the game for you. Part of the Guildwars set, it is a standalone game where you can add on the other packs. Been out since 2005 but easily still one of the better games out on the market in 2010. The graphics are outstanding with low computer requirements. Beware of people selling used games. The access code for online play can only be used once.

Very good stand alone title in the GW universe

A very needed addition of skills and new areas to explore. I started out with prophesies and then got this one for the new content and it was worth it. You can use your prophesies character to go into Factions(Cantha) and play the campaign without leveling up first. There reason why this isn't excellent is because the game is a lot shorter and in my opinion too much of it is in a huge run down city. Make sure to pick this up if you want to participate in alliance battles and other guild related activities.

WELL worth the price

Pros and Cons of Guild Wars

Created: 13/03/07
If you're into MMORPGs but don't want to pay monthly, this is the game for you. Hours and hours of gameplay is included in each expansion, and you can link the accounts together and travel between the different continents from each expansion. Not only is there plenty of game for role playing, there is the one of a kind PvP built into each game. The ultimate goal of this game is not necessarily to get to the highest level, but to "build" your character with select skills that can be earned through quests, bought from skill merchants (or trainers), or captured from "boss" monsters in the game. The top MMORPG to compare this game with would be WoW: in Guild Wars, you cannot camp a spawn point for bosses; however, getting a party together if you are not trying to do a mission is unlikely if not impossible unless you are low level. Whereas is WoW, it seems to be more oriented for parties of PCs. Overall, I give Guild Wars 9 out of 10, but only because the tendancy for players to not party up. Hours and hours (and hours and hours) of fun.

Great Game for anybody

Created: 18/05/06
I have never played an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) except for Knight Online but I like the graphics a lot and how there are NO MONTHLY FEES unlike WoW (World of Warcraft). There are many types of characters in the game including the new Assassin and Ritulist. If you like joining a guild and playing with friends online this would be a very good game. The Quests and missions are fun also and it takes along time to beat. I enjoyed this game more than Guild Wars and Guild Wars Nightfall.
