Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (Wii, 2008)

"Guitar Hero - Aerosmith" is a great game for the whole family to enjoy. It's simplistically based color coded touch activated controls are fantastically arranged and it's a really fun game for people just learning to play. While Aerosmith is the main band scheme, it also favors several bands of the same genre. Bands that Aerosmith has inspired, and even the bands that inspired Aerosmith!!!

I rated the game 4/5 stars due to it's lack of music selection. While it does have several choices from the bands greatest hits/and some award winning songs, it doesn't differentiate from the regular narrow view of the "Guitar Hero" accesories. If you wish to use a "Rock Band 2" guitar you are out of luck. This game is NOT RockBand accesory ready. BE ADVISED! Look at the instruments availability before purchasing these games!! ACTIVISION keeps a tight grip on which products are released to use with these games! HEY, for $12 you can't beat it!!!Do not overpay, it's really not worth more than $12!!!!!

Just because you don't know old Aerosmith songs does not mean that this is not a good game. Maybe you should listen to early Aerosmith songs and then decide whether the songs that Aerosmith - an R&B based rock and roll band - so what if they did covers of old songs? Maybe you should get an education in the history of Aerosmith's music before you start complaining like a baby that early Aerosmith tunes are not good music. Yes I wish that there were a lot more of Aerosmith songs versus cover songs - but if they are good songs - who cares? Aerosmith should re-release Guitar Hero with ALL of the songs on "Pandora's Box" - that is a GREAT compilation album. Educate yourself in music history young ones - I still cannot believe that contestants on American Idol actually said that THEY NEVER HEARD A BEATLES SONG! And you call yourselves musicians?? UNREAL!! If you want to be a good musician you need to draw from the past and learn from it. You are NOT INVENTING MUSIC - YOU SHOULD BE INSPIRED BY IT - AND THEN PUT YOUR OWN TWIST ON IT CREATIVELY! Don't think that Celine Dion created or wrote "All by Myself" - even retard Ryan Seacrest called it a Celine Dion song when it was written in the 1970s by Eric Carmen of the Rasberries. So many artists cover songs that were previously recorded. Just do not give Celine Dion credit for a song she did not write - did she ever write a song? And this is relevant because Steven Tyler is a judge on American Idol - who pointed out that a country song by some blonde chic was not her song but actually a Patsy Cline song. If you don't know who these people are - GO TO THE SCHOOL OF ROCK AND ROLL!!! Stop whining!

I have a Wii and we LOVE our Guitar Hero III LEGENDS OF ROCK!!! Great songs, songs everyone knows. We were really looking forward to the AEROSMITH version, thinking there would be new cool songs, but we were wrong!

HOW BORING!! You have to play a bunch of UNKNOWN Aerosmith songs that totally suck. Then the other songs from artists you would know, they dont even have the REAL artists playing the songs!! WHY PUT THE SONGS ON THERE IF THE ORIGINAL ARTIST WONT ALLOW IT ON????

Total disappointment, from a real Wii and game fan for over 30 years. Take my word for it, wait for the next GH game....This is nothing but a cheap ploy at a commercial to sell Aerosmiths new cd which sucks.

Guitar Hero 3: Aerosmith is the first expansion game for the Guitar Hero 3 franchise for the Nintendo Wii. It was released June 29th, 2008 by Activision.

The game follows the same principle as Guitar Hero 3. The only difference is that you are playing basically as Aerosmith! You start off by watching a neat cartoon video showing the life story of Aerosmith. As you play the game you get to watch neat video's before each stage that show members of Aerosmith talk about the significance of the stage that you are about to play!

Each "gig" or section starts off with you playing two songs that Aerosmith selected from each time frame. The two songs are from celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way.

You also get to play venues from historical moments during the band's illustrious career offer the experience of "sweet emotion" and further capture the essence of the band’s rise to fame. So you get to play Kansas City's in New York, and the high school where Aerosmith first played!

The cartoon characterization of Aerosmith is done well on the Wii. Tyler actually looks good! LoL. :)

Song Selection:

A great selection from the entire Aerosmith library. Awesome tracks!

Graphics:

Very similar to Guitar Hero 3 for Wii. Nothing really new. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)

Complaints:

The only complaint is the number of "covers" of the favorite songs before you get to play the Aerosmith songs.

Overall:

As an Aerosmith fan I give this a 5/5!
