If undecided between rival, Rock Band 2, pick Rock Band

I bought the guitar pack also before this. My guitar strum bar doesn't work from that one and the slide bar strums automatically. I bought this set for the drums and guitar, thinking it was just the individual controller's mistake last time. It works fine, but after maybe a half an hour of having it on, the strum bar strums for you in the game.
The drums seem to have sensitivity problems, which can be fixed, but is very frustrating.
The game is fun, but some songs seem very long and then at the very end, get hard; now, you've wasted about 6 minutes just to fail it.
The presentation and songs, in my opinion, are not up to the standard Rock Band 2 set, especially with the abundance of downloadable content which personalizes the game more than fun, yet low quality song creation. The game looks great graphically, but the note track is small and looks less professional. The notes turn all the same color during a star power sequence, and if playing the drums without being used to the set-up, it can be somewhat confusing.
I'm not sure about Rock Band 2's controllers compared to these, but my original Rock Band controllers are still functional. Three drums cracked, but hits still register, and the whammy bar is broken, but still can be used. Although the GHWT controllers can be sent in for a replacement, it is much easier just to avoid the game.
Overall, the game is fun. Without some of the problems faced, most importantly the lacking hardware, this would be a great game.

Guitar Hero: World Tour Review
Created: 05/07/09
I decided to buy this game because first of all this game was cheap and it game with the guitar which is really amazing and a way better upgrade then the guitar hero 3 guitar. The actual game on the other hand is a different story. The game itself actually has some pretty good songs on the game such as, Crazy Train, B.Y.O.B, Hotel California. It also has a music studio which i must say is pretty pointless unless you want to put your entire life into making something you can listen to. But it is fun to play crazy customs people online make. The graphics are also amazingly good everything is a step up from guitar hero 3 including the full band. The one thing i cannot stand about the game is the charts. Some of the songs are so stupidly charted. Not to mention the annoying purple notes which are supposed to help but indeed mess you up. The slide bar on the guitar was supposed to help but its kind of hard to use when you are in the middle of actually using it then all of a sudden it changes back to regular buttons. Rockband has actually got that part down. The singing on the game is pretty hard to the free form sections in vocals is idiotic. Because you have know idea what to sing and how to sing it. Also another error is you can't get a 100% on the song with vocals, which I have heard they have fixed in future games like Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero: Smash Hits. I have yet to experience the drum set. But i have heard the pads out of the box had problems with it. But this game is an Average to Below Average. Its not there best but if its cheap what the hell buy it.

Good Game...

I decided to buy this game because LOVED Guitar Hero 3 and wanted to play a new version that had different songs. This one definitely brings different songs. It features popular and not so well known songs from all over the world! (Hence the name,I guess.) Anyway, this game is pretty fun, just like the other versions before it, but there are some things I don;t like about this game actually.First off,the buttons on the screen appear smaller than the previous versions have had. Didn't like this so much. Second, there aren't that many battles and the ones that are on here are different than the more fun ones on the older games. Third, they didn't put enough well-known songs on here. Was kind of disappointed by that fact. Also, the levels are harder than previous games. If you play on Easy mode, for instance, then near the end of the level play, you go from actually being able to play the songs from pretty easy to difficult.I played every song well, until it introduced Metallica and Sweet Home Alabama. Those songs are kind of tough...and take easy mode from Easy to almost Medium standards without warning or any leading up to it.
Okay..now..on to things I like about this game. It is still the fun guitar playing game. There are more characters to pick from and getting to see Ozzy on here makes buying this game TOTALLY worth it. Plus, the story mode is EXTRA long!Once you are done with the first career story, then Lou the Devil enters the scene again and you start a new story with new stadiums to play at and more songs to play!Awesomeness! Plus, you can get codes from CheatCC.com for free that allow you to make the vocalists breathe fire, as well as codes to unlock rare characters and other cool stuff! Even better is that you can make your own band logo and name and it will appear in the game!So cool!
Overall,I am glad I bought this game.It may not be as great as Guitar Hero 3, but it takes longer to play, has better graphics and more special vocal guests, hs more characters, and there is more to do in this game.I recommend it to any fan of the game. This is a MUST buy to all Guitar Hero freaks out there!

Not what I expected

I've been playing Rock Band for a while now and just recently bought the Midi Rocker adapter that let's me connect my real eDrum set to my PS3 (which is awesome by-the-way!). This adapter works with GHWT also so I got the game for $15 shipped. I figured at the very least it was worth it just to get more songs for cheap.
Music is music and banging away to colored bars is basically the same however, I was suprised how much less I like GHWT because of the awful graphics. Compared to RB, the characters and every thing else look 2 dimensional and cartoon like. It feels like the game is being played on an older console, something like a PS1. And what's with the stupid creature claws that cross the screen at the end of every song played.
I would say if you can get the game for dirt cheap like I did it is worth it just for the rythm practice and getting some songs you don't have on RB but be prepared for a much less satisfying "gaming" experience.

Everyone who's played, loves it.

The only have two dislikes about the game:
1. Addicting! I find myself staying up late, just to play and advance my career. Also, I have friends that come over all the time, just to play.
2. I didn't know the first few songs, but after playing, you get more recognized songs.
This game is amazing. I LOVE the drums, and singing, and the guitar/bass. Make sure to put down the drumstick holders/pop-up tabs, because people will easily break them while busting it out. Other than that, load it in, set it up... and ENJOY!
