Half Past Dead 2 (DVD, 2007)

I had to rewatch my Half Past Dead DVD that I got back in High School to get reaquainted. I remember not liking it back then, but now I actually enjoyed it. So naturally, I gave Half Past Dead 2 a spin.

It's not bad, not great, but certainly is entertaining, even if most of the movie is forgotten after 92 minutes of viewing. Bill Goldberg gives his whirl at acting, and while I never felt he was BAD, I never was impressed. Goldberg kicks butt in this one, delivering some good and realistic fight scenes. Kurrupt annoyed me and I really wished he was not in the film. It was nice though, to see Tony Plana return as the warden (El Fuego) and have plenty of references to the original, which most DTV sequels don't tie the predecesor together too well. The film is dark, cramped and makes a great feel of what a prison must be like; however that might nag at some people, as I had a love/hate for it.

If you enjoyed the first, you'll likely have atleast a passing appreciation for Half Past Dead 2. I can recomend it to some people, and certainly for people who enjoy action movies.

Half Past Dead 2, is unlike the typical b grade Prison films. It has some depth in that the lead characters played by Goldberg and Kurrupt develop a real strong bond and though the plot is weak, their chemistry more than makes up for it. Director Art Camacho capitalizes on what could've been a dreary movie and brings it to life with the gritty action sequences. Overall I'd say that it is a fitting sequel to the original.

Great movie! lots of action, well worth the money. Bill Goldberg plays an amazing role in this movie by far his best film yet!

Better then average prison movie. You see the human race at the lowest level together. Good fight scenes, and the plot was hard to find. Bad language at times, but this is not a boy scout movie either. Not for children movie. Good movie for the new criminals what to expect in the Big House. They tone it down to what it really is in the Big House doing hard time. "You do the Crime, You do the time" The prison guards were the worst bunch of jerks I seen in a long time. I bet this movie was made by a liberal who hates cops.
