Movie synopsis

Perhaps the most influential and successful independent film ever made, HALLOWEEN is the movie that put director John Carpenter on the map as a viable filmmaker. An exercise in simple, pure horror, HALLOWEEN takes us into the world of a mad killer, Michael Myers, who at a very young age stabbed his older sister to death. Locked away for many years in a mental hospital Michael escapes one night and returns to his hometown to continue his killing spree. Jamie Lee Curtis, in her first role, plays the resourceful babysitter who is chased by the killer on Halloween night. Produced for very little money and a tight shooting schedule, HALLOWEEN was a stunning success when it was released. Written by John Carpenter and his longtime producer Debra Hill, the film set their careers on fire, with both of them working together many times over the next 25 years. The film also made a star out of Jamie Lee Curtis and turned the slasher movie into a viable, successful genre. HALLOWEEN has been copied, parodied and even turned into a franchise of its own, but the original is still considered the best of the bunch. HALLOWEEN was John Carpenter's first foray into horror, and remains the standard to which all other modern horror films are measured.

Halloween: A Shining Example of Blu-Ray Technology

Created: 29/08/09
What can I say...Everyone knows this movie; Its a classic in horror cinema.

What I can add is that this Blu-Ray version is phenomenal. You notice details that were not even remotely visible in the original release; (mainly shot in low lighting). Its really like your watching it for the first time.

The true measure of Blu-Ray capability is noticed whenever older movies are converted to this format. No longer is the picture blurry / grainy..You see everything. A factor we take for granted in newer movies and HD-DVD releases...If your still skeptical I direct you to view the Blu-Ray Friday the 13th (original).

This visually speaking just blew my mind.

For those that like content:
The extras available are similar to the 25th anniversary DVD release featuring the documentary, commentary from the stars, trailers..etc.

Definitely worth the money...great cinema experience...I wont watch this movie any other way again.

Halloween (original)

Created: 14/10/10
One of the first slasher horror films to come out, Halloween set the standard for horror films since it's release in 1978.
With suspenseful scenes and music that set the movie apart from other slashers around its time.
Halloween had such an impact that they decided to continue the horror series with many more sequels.
And near 30 years later Rob Zombie remade the movie.
(though it will never reach the level of the 1978 orginal.)
For anyone who wants to be scared, wants to stay up all night in bed, and forever changed from a horror movie....
Halloween is just for you.

One of the best horror movies of all time!

Created: 07/04/11
The original, classic 1978 Halloween is to "die" for. It's one of the greatest horror movies ever made! The ambience, the silence, the music, it always gives you the feeling that it's not over yet. John Carpenter is a genius! We must also thank Debra Hill (may she rest in peace) for her contributions to this film. An absolute must-have!

Blue Ray/DVD Halloween

Created: 04/01/08
The Blue Ray Copy of Halloween is a perfect picture of one of the best horror films ever made. You can see much more detail and Michael Myers in the shadows than you can see in standard VHS and DVDs. The sound and and music is in Dolby D which makes your new Halloween experience that much more frightening.
