The book is fairly well written, but one needs an "Elmer" to explain some of the subject material. If someone knows very little about electronics and theory to begin with, this book may be a little too tough as I believe it fails to fully explain (in layman's terms) some subjects covered.
That said, with a little help, this book is far superior to the previous study guide my wife downloaded for her Kindle. I would highly recommend this book to any new perspective ham as long as they have a basic knowledge of electronic theory or know someone who does.
Get the book, get your license, and enjoy ham radio. I've been a ham for 22 years and although I strongly oppose the abolishment of the CW requirement, it's never been easier to get on the air, and this book will get you there.

This is a great manual for those who want to get their Technician license. The book is an easy read and the included CD with practice tests will really help you learn the material and pass the test.
