Movie synopsis
Gary Cooper stars as a mysterious frontier doctor, Joe Frail, in THE HANGING TREE. When a blind and ailing Swiss girl, Elizabeth Mahler, is placed under his care, Frail treats her, and then falls for her. However, it's not long before her miscreant partner, Frency Plante (Karl Malden), begins to stir up trouble for the couple. Director Delmer Daves delivers a hit with this film. It combines the psychodramatic elements of his war thriller DESTINATION TOKYO with the romance of NEVER LET ME GO. Featuring fine performances from all of its players, it marks the film debut of George C. Scott as Frail's mentor. A thinking man's western, THE HANGING TREE is a winning film.

Good old western movie. Enjoyed it, main reason for my getting it is because it was filmed in Wash. State, and at the location which later became a very rustic (no portapottys) campground my family would camp at on a yearly basis.
The Movie itself has fantastic scenery which made it easy to identify our old camp spots. It had a good story, typical in that the stupid are stupid and the brave are brave.
I recommend it to anyone who likes these older westerns.

Great Cooper Western

Great classic Gary Cooper western of 1950's.
Had taped it for myself years ago but the tape has degraded to point of unable to watch.
Searced magazines and stores for it til found it on E-Bay.
Sleeve and video was in new shape. Great.

I saw this movie when I was younger, and wanted to see it again, so I bought it. Good romance. I think this is one of Gary Cooper's best movies.

) I love the stars and the fact that it's a western. I love overall that it has a great plot and story line. I'm definitely glad that I bought it. Now I can see it over and over and over. Thank you for the opportunity that gave me the chance to own it.
