Hansel & Gretel (DVD, 2003)

I thought the movie was very well put together for a kids show. The sandman and the fairy make a great team as they help save Hansel & Gretel from the Wicked Witch. There was nothing offensive about the movie unless your nerves are extremely sensitive. No fairy "cheeks" showed as far as I could tell, she was dressed in summer shorts & a blouse, which is nothing out of the ordinary.
There were a few scenes that may make you think "why did they put that in the movie?" Like the troll who has a gastrointestinal problem...if you know what I mean...but other than that, which is minor...it is a very good movie & alright for kids to watch.
Awesome scenery!! A neat talking crow, a magical forest & a gingerbread house that is straight from the story book! I really liked that!
I thought the background music could have been more upbeat to keep the movie rolling along...it sounds like generic tv special of the week music...but again minor. So I give this movie 4/5 =very good.

I got this movie for my two daughters who are 6 and 3 years old. About a year ago, my oldest daughter picked this movie out at the video store to rent. She watched it over and over until it had to go back. She was upset that we had to take the movie back. After some time had passed we went to rent the movie again and it was no longer available for rent. I started searching for it and couldn't find it anywhere. I gave up for a while until I was doing some searching on Ebay and came across the movie so I bid on it and won. Ever since we have gotten the movie my kids watch it at least twice a week, but usually more. I ended up buying a second one on Ebay to watch on the van DVD player so we have one for the house and one for the car.

Hansel & Gretel is basically a cute movie somewhat following the story you may have heard growing up. There are the added characters such as the Sandman, Wood Fairy, Troll, and the Boogyman that I don't remember from any Hansel & Gretel stories I heard growing up. These characters do add some entertainment to the movie even with the little grown-up sexual innuendos and reality TV phrases that the kids don't seem to pick up on. It makes it more enjoyable for the parents to watch the movie with the kids as my poor husband could tell you who has probably watched it 20 times in the last month with the kids. If you are looking for a completely clean-cut "G" rated movie this isn't the one for you or your kids. It doesn't have any bad language, but as I mentioned before there are the little grown-up sexual innuendos that you may have to explain to your kids if they pick up on them. That is the only reason that I gave this movie a Good 4/5 instead of an Excellent 5/5.

This is just a fun movie to watch. Its the classic tale of Hansel and Gretel with new age twists. The story is a little different than the one you grow up with but the changes make it fun and bring in some other faery tale creatures.

This is a great movie for parents and kids. There are some jokes that would go over kids heads but are very funny for the grown ups. There are also references to recent shows throughout the movie (Like Survivor).

Great cast also. Howie Mandel is always funny and great to watch. I would recommend this movie to just about anyone.

This DVD is horrible. It's not appropriate for kids and I bought it for my 3 year old son. It's stupid, boring, disgusting, silly, sexual comments are made , shows the fairy's butt cheeks while the sand man is looking up her shorts. NOT FOR YOUNG KIDS and as an adult I didn't enjoy it. I couldn't stand it. My mom said the same.

I bought this DVD for my son. Although I thought it was corny, he enjoyed it. He has watched it several times and likes the various characters.
