Lisa Kleypas keeps getting better!
Created: 12/10/05
I have read almost everything Lisa Kleypas has written--this book is one of her best. Unlike some of her earlier novels, this one is light-hearted and the sex, while present, is not the overwhelming theme of the book. Set in the mid-19th century, the book begins as a continuation of the previous "Wallflower" novel: Secrets of a Summer Night. For those who haven't read the previous installment, this book easily stands on its own. The characters are well-written and believable--the contrast between the ultra starchy Westcliff and the independent (and highly opinionated) Lillian is part of the fun. This one is perfect for those who like the American vs. English historicals and even adds a touch of suspense towards the end. I recommend this to anyone who likes historical romance: especially fans of Julia Quinn or Victoria Alexander who may have been put off by some of Kleypas's earlier, steamier works.

BACK OF BOOK SAYS:
IT HAPPENED AT THE BALL where beautiful but bold lillian bowman quickly learned that her independent american ways weren't entirely the thing and the most disapproving of all was insufferable, snobbish, and impossible marcus lord westcliff london'ts most eligible aristocrate.
ok, my only pet peeve is that both characters announced that they don't like each other almost immediately.................
other than that and that some portions were slow............. moving as the house party really lasted way too long..........
however i do like the playing baseball.......
the worry over her riding the horse............
though the bedroom action is slow..to start..... but when it starts... it gets good quickly. infact this is the first regency i can remember where HONEY comes into play in the bedroom..................
also the getting drunk and finger in the bottle was different, and i would have liked to have seen the expression on that maids face...........lol....
the twist at the end,,,,,,, with mother dearest and st. vincent.....
i am so glad that the character knew that she did not betray him. because alot of authors will do that and it really annoys me..
but he believed in her and rescued her........as he should
it's been one of the better books in a while...
begins with summer, now fall, next is winter...........

Another great book in an already great series!!

I found this series by accident and what a wonderful surprise it turned out to be!! It Happened One Autumn is the second book in the Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas. Lisa Kleypas is my all around favorite romance writer. I found this book to be a real page turner. The heroine in the story is so likeable and realistic that I forgot that I was reading a fictional story. She gets paired with a man who at first is completely wrong for her but in the end turns out wonderful. This was my second favorite novel in this series. However it is definately worth the time and money. I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series!

Excellent sequel and continuation of Wallflower series

This is the second book in the Walllflowers series by this author. I had read the Wallflower Christmas novel and wanted to go back and read the first 4 books. As a romance, I found this series to be entertaining and very compelling, very hard to put down and stop reading. If you are a fan of Mary Balogh's novels or Jude Deveraux's Montgomery historicals, I think you will very much enjoy these.

Loved this book! Lillian is a outspoken bull headed women who catched the interest of a english Earl, who is also a respected high on his horse man. They instantly don't get along but the attraction between is undeniable. The characters are great and you will come to love them.
