Turn terrible toddlers into teriffic toddlers!
Created: 21/08/06
Dr. Harvey Karp's DVD is a great way for parents to deal with a toddler that is prone to throwing tantrums! Dr. Karp is insightful, caring and compassionate when dealing with and talking about children. He SHOWS you how to deal with tantrums and undesirable behaviors. You actually see him working with toddlers and using his methods. He also gives some insight on the minds of toddlers and their cognitive and social development. (Even Dr. Phil recommends the methods presented!) Now, this DVD will not solve ALL tantrums and may take some time to learn and use, but it is an alternative to yelling, spanking, giving up, etc. I use the methods presented in the DVD with my 2 year old son and they help alleviate some tantrums (not all!). The DVD format is nice for busy parents that don't have time to read a book. My husband and I watched the DVD togther so we were on the same page with dealing with those terrible tantrums. As a mother and a teacher, I recommend this DVD to parents who need some help!

So like everybody that looking for a good solution for a "loud" kids, I got this DVD.
To be honest, not only it didn't help me, it didn't say ANYTHING I didn't know or guess by now (my kid is 2yo). I was more impressed of how much this way high over rated DVD, was made NON PROFFESIONALY ! This DVD is a hand full of episode and privet treatment, that took place at peoples houses and was recorded.
The only time it actually "talk" to the viewer, is between episodes.
To my opinion, ask somebody who have kids, what they did back in the days, ask your parents questions and once a while search the net.
THERE IS NO MAGIC IN RAISING KIDS --- BUT TIME IS NOT STOPING AND THEY WILL GROW THROGH IT.
Good luck

The Happiest Toddler on the Block

Dr. Harvey Karp certainly has a way of making parents understand their children and helps with the frustrating language barriers. After receiving Happiest Baby on the Block as a shower gift, I purchased the Happiest Toddler on the Block. Dr. Karp was right on with his methods and they work on my almost 2 year old most of the time.

Good but not as good as Happiest Baby on the Block
Created: 21/07/08
I purchased this video because Dr. Karp was so helpful with his Happiest Baby on the Block video. It was so useful and I figured this one would be just as good, but I was slightly disappointed.
The overall gyst of the video is how to talk to your toddler and have them understand that you understand what they are going through. This is helpful but I think the overall video would be more beneficial to viewers if they had better examples, like he did previously, to show his steps in motion. He did show different families applying the techniques but they were short and abrupt compared to his previous video.
I would recommend to others, especially by purchasing it on ebay or half.com, but I would not have run out to buy this brand new at a store.
It was a helpful video but it just wasn't as good as his first video.

Happiest Toddler on the Block is great.

This is a great summary of the book. Its great to hear from Dr. Karp directly and see him showing parents what to do. However, I was hoping there would be more real-life demos of Toddler-ese. He does answer a lot of questions from parents that are not covered in the book. I highly recommend this DVD to any parent of a toddler. Watch this DVD anytime after your child turns 1 year old.
