A great movie in a great series.

The fourth movie in the Harry Potter series The Goblet of Fire continues where The Prisoner of Azkaban left off. In his fourth year at Hogwarts Harry is growing up and the tone of the films is growing up, both with him and with his audience. Forced to compete in the Triwizard Tournament Harry faces his most difficult challenges yet and finally comes face to face with his greatest nemesis, Lord Voldemort. This film is darker than the ones that came before it culminating in an end where not everything comes out right. Another thing that has grown is the special effects I found them to be more realistic than ever. I can't think of anything that I didn't like about this film, and the Special Features give you what you want to see. I would definitely recommend this film and this edition.

The Best Film in the Series
Created: 05/10/06
In this 4th Installment in the Harry Potter series, our young wizard finds himself
placed in the Tri-Wizard tournament - a competition consisting of 3 dangerous events. During all this both Harry & his friends(Ron & Hermione)also deal with the dreaded threat known as puberty: Harry struggles with the concept of asking a girl out, Ron still acts like a nervous wreck & Hermione finally snags her first date. Another highlight to look forward to is the long awaited return of Harry's quote on quote nemesis, Lord Voldemort(played brilliantly by Ralph Fiennes). I thought this follow-up was a huge improvement over the disappointing 3rd film(HP & The Prisoner of Azkaban)which really sucked and didn't seem to add anything major to the series. If you have any young ones that want to see the film be cautious because this time around the film is rated PG-13, instead of PG - due to some darker themed elements within the film. Overall, I give the film a 9 out of 10 - it not only makes up for the lame 3rd film but also adds a little something extra that all fans(of the books or just the movies)will enjoy.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire truly excited by the prospect of this film which should be the turning point in the Harry Potter odyssey, but came away somewhat disappointed.
The special effects were awesome, but the film played like a highlights tape. I know that there is no possible way to cover what was in the book, but the movie jumped from one high point to the next, with almost no character development.
I fully expected this to be a darker movie, but it was lacking the warmth of the earlier films, simply because it didn't devote any time to the friendship of the three. I was also very surprised that so little time was devoted to the finale. This particular event was the changing point in Harry's life and it received even less time than some of the Challenges.
There was some minor comic relief (usually involving Ron), but it just wasn't enough... and wasn't very funny.
All that said, the film definitely held my interest and rates almost four stars, but it felt like it was missing heart. It just left me kind of cold...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire---2006,DVD

This Harry Potter installment was like being on a Rooler-Coaster going Backwards Blindfolded! NO FUN at all. Being a HUGE Potter fan, I was very excited to purchase this film because as far as I was concerned anything "Harry Potter" was worth the investment----and then---My Husband and Myself and our Kid's sat down to watch(with,Popcorn and all the trimmings!)Uggghhh......about an hour or so into the Movie, I asked--"Does anyone know what the heck is going on here!?" I was very discouraged by the amount of chop and flop the Movie was dishing out, not to mention it totally lacked the Heart and Soul of the previous "Potter" Movies. The cast seemed very distant emotion wise and left the story cold and void of any emotional attachment on the part of the viewer. So, sorry to say that this was a "Below Average" film at best. Poor "Harry".

Harry Potter and friends will be around for years to come. The two disc set has a ton of extra features, plus it looks nice. The Harry Potter series keeps getting better with each addition.
