If you've got a long, rainy weekend ahead of you and have every intention of enjoying a good twenty hours on the sofa, nab yourself this Potter-a-thon. The films are satisfying, entertaining, and manage to engage the viewer without demanding much in return. They stand alone pretty well, too. In fact, while they thread fairly well as a film series, you'd do best to think of them as a different creature than the books. Sometimes (I'm looking at you, film #7), they cut out the one scene with the ten seconds of exposition that would have made a dozen other plot points make sense. To their credit, though, they're still fun to watch.
This particular set is pretty bare. You get a box with a bunch of flippy disc holders in it, and there's one disc per movie. (Curiously, they're slightly out of sequence in the box, even though they came brand new.) I get the sense that they just took the first disc of what was a two-disc set when the individual film came out on DVD, stuck it in a different box, and relabeled it as a collection. Some discs just happen to have a couple of special features attached; most do not. It seems slapped together. But all the discs work fine, and if you want 20-something hours of comfort film, this is an amazingly economical way to do it.

Harry Potter movies will never get old for me. The only bad thing about this particular collection is that it doesn't offer very many Special Features (i.e. featurettes with the actors, behind the scene clips, interviews with the actors etc.). Also the Language settings aren't consistent (i.e. some discs offer French subtitles some do not, kinda random). But if it's just the movies you're interested in, this will be more than sufficient.

I bought the Harry Potter film collection for my 8 year old
grandson. He has read most of the books and loves the movies.
I highly recommend them. The movies bring the books to life.
The whole family is enjoying the films and the price is right.

Got the set for my wife as a christmas gift. She is a Harry Potter Fanatic. Dvd's arrived very promptly. However, have a concern with the way they play. On the title menues as well as the first 20 to 30 mins of each movie there is a horrible spinning clicking and whirring noise that the dvd's make. Then it goes away. Almost like the dvd's are made poorly and are not perfectly round. Other than that, good buy especailly for the price and the convience of having the entire series in one package.

Low quality printing on discs and, not extras, box but movies play fine.

For the price this collection can't be beat, though there are some obvious reasons it's not as expensive as other box sets. There are no extras at all, just the 8 films which is fine but could be a bummer for enthusiasts. The printing on the inside of the box set is a little odd. I can't put my finger on it, but at first I thought these were counterfeit DVD's because the images printed on the discs looked a little cheaply done. the movies play fine though which is really what matters. So if you don't mind missing special features and some lame printing quality on the actual discs, get this affordable version of the collection. Otherwise get one of the cooler box sets with specials and extras and stuff.
