Product description

Product Information
Adaptation of the airborne wizard soccer game featured in the Harry Potter books. Two teams comprised of seven players compete on broomsticks in the air. The quaffle, a floating sphere, acts as the equivalent to a soccer ball. Three "chasers" on each team offensively move the quaffle up and down the airborne stadium and attempt to hurl it through one of three existing goals. One "keeper," or goalie, on each end tries to block and return those attempts. Players must also watch out for "bludgers," or hard spheres with minds of their own that try to knock wizards off of their broomsticks, and the "snitch," a tiny golden sphere that pretty much guarantees a win.

The Wonderful Game of Quidditch, One We Know And Love

    Created: 12/08/06
Here are a list of things that I liked about this game:
    1. I got to experience a game I have read about many times
    2. I got to play on any team of my choice on the game
    3. I was able to play for any team around the world
    4. I was able to control game play, such as when I pass, shoot, or fly all the way down to the other side with my player
    5. The graphics were decent
    6. The game doesnt take a long time to load
    7. Rules of the game are easy to learn

But there is a down side to almost every purchase. Now for the cons:
    1. You do not get to create a personal profile for the character, such as height, weight, skin tone, sex, etc.
    2. You do not get to create a team by picking and choosing players
    3. The controls can be tricky to master for a novice game player
    4. The game overall is simple, too simple for those seeking what you read in the books (broken bones, getting knocked off brooms, concussions and frequent hospital visits are NOT part of the game). The game is just the same game over and over and over again, but with a different opponent and a small difference in level of skill.

Overall, I liked the game because I didnt get frustrated with messing up, because even if you do in this game, you can easily get the quaffle back in your posession. I didnt have to worry about making sure the shot was perfectly lined up, that I was passing when I should be flying down the field, or even missing the goal post. I liked this game because the only thing that was hard for me in this game was... to lose. It is easy to get the hang of, easy to learn the rules and how to play the game. I would recommend buying this game for someone who gets frustrated with losing, someone who has time to kill, or to someone who just wants to play Harry's favorite game: Quidditch.

TOO SIMPLE, boring, not at all like the book, SUCKS

    Created: 05/03/07
Only one of the reviews provided actually said anything about this game at all! COME ON????? What's wrong with everyone??? If you're going to rate it, at least put something in the text box. GEEZ.

There's also a note at the top of the "Write a Review" page and it very quickly and simply says: "This is your review of the product and not a review of any seller that might have sold you this product." So how hard is it to read the directions???

Obviously, you can't take any of the pre-mentioned input into mind because they had no idea what they were talking about. So here we go, I hope this helps some of you that are actually thinking about buying this piece of junk.
    ------------------

THIS GAME SUCKS! DO NOT BUY IT! The game is too simple for most people. And for the young crowd, the controls are way too complex. This game will not make anyone happy.

    1. Graphics: the graphics used to be pretty good for their time. Now, they are unimpressive. After you have played a few games, you will notice that all your opponents look the same every round (only their team colors change). The movements of the characters are blocky and jagged at best. You cannot customize any of the characters so you are stuck with the same old boring stuff to look at.

    2. Sounds: basic. Simply put, nothing but noise from the players and occasionally from the crowd. Nothing new or catchy or memorable. Actually, this will also get annoying after a few plays because teammates will keep making the same grunting noises. ARGH!

    3. Controls: like I said before, they suck. They are too complicated for the normal gameplayers and take a while to master. There's way too many buttons for everything (you learn abilities for every game you play, but do you really want to do the same thing over and over and over again just to be able to push a few more buttons). Once you've mastered this, like one of my friends, you'll find that the characters respond very slowly to what you want them to do (or so my friend says). So you become really frustrated. You get tackled really fast but move slower than everything else while you try to get the ball back again.

    4. Gameplay: like everything else, boring boring boring. If you have played one game, then you are done. There is no strategy to the game. You just pass and throw. That's it. There's really no planning or anything like that. As a matter of fact, I bet you could close your eyes and pass and throw randomly and you'd still be able to make a few shots and intercept a few players. STUPID??????? Also, when I think of Quidditch, I think of of a really fast-paced sport. That's not how it shows up on the screen. Everyone moves about 2 miles an hour on their broomsticks.

In summary, this is the worst game out of all the Harry Potter games. It is simplistic in all the wrong areas and therefore, is 100% boring. It is slow and gets old fast. Sure, Quidditch is a novel idea, but the creators of this game had no idea how to make it fun and interactive. What a shame. It is not worth the money even to rent it because you will only get around 30 minutes of entertainment out of it. Buy or rent something else.

    Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup

    Created: 16/07/09
One thing that surprised me is how well this game was put together and played out. I was a little concerned at how easily it would control due to the fact that you are zipping around in the air the whole time which of course allows for multiple different height possibilities, but the computer does a really good job of leveling everyone out enough to make it very easy to follow the quaffle, perform tackles, and try to score. Passing and shooting are also very easy to learn and do, and the AI is challenging enough so that you really have to focus on not only passing, but also in using special unblockable shots or team special moves which help you move the ball down the field and run the score up.

Love Potter you'll love the game

    Created: 31/03/08
I read alot of reviews of this game some positive and some negitive. I decided to buy it because I love the Harry Potter books and movies, thanks to my wife who got me hooked. I play alot of video games although I'm not all that good at them and here's what I think. If you love Harry Potter you'll love the game. If you're a gammer looking for a challenging game this is not for you. The game is fairly easy to play which I like because I'm old, 58, and my reflexes aren't what they used to be. I haven't lost a match yet but it still is fun. You can play as any house and switch houses. There are special moves you can make as you win challenges. You can also play in world cup as different countries. The graphics are really good and controls are pretty easy and it's just fun to play. If you love Potter you will love the game and if your a gammer you'll probably find it to easy and boring.
