One of the best games I ever owned
Created: 11/01/10
I bought this game because I enjoy board games. I thought it might be cool playing an animated version of these games. Also, I wanted something easy and enjoyable for my folks to play, which this turned out to be perfect. I'm 33 yrs old and I was skeptical if it would be too kiddy like for me with the Mr. Potato Head hanging out during each game. Potato turned out to be kind of humorous, and if you don't like him, there's an option to turn him off. All the games are very enjoyable. The Sorry Sliders is fun, but the controls are a little loose. Meaning that you swing at the same pace, so you think, and one time you'll slid the right distance, then the next, way too hard. Just doesn't seem consistent. Sliders is a newer game, so if your not familiar with it like I was, I would explain it being a little like shuffle board. The Battle Ship is probably my favorite. There are different options you can do with all the games on the disk too. For instance, Battle Ship has an option to play with super weapons, and a couple other different ways. There is one meaningless part of the game for me, and that would be your so called room. Here you collect different trophies and pieces of furniture to keep in your room. I could care less, but maybe the kids would like it. I do like how you make profiles for yourself and friends which keeps track of your stats for each game. For instance, number of wins, how many ships sunk, largest word created in Boggle, ect. Games included on the disk are: Boggle, Battle Ship, Connect Four, Sorry, Sorry Sliders, and Yatzee. I highly recommend this game to people who like board games.

LOADS of FAMILY FUN! But disappointed with the maker
Created: 21/05/10
A friend had this game for X-box and I HAD to get it for my Wii at home! UNfortunately, we realized AFTER purchase that the Wii version doesn't have my favorite game: SCRABBLE! So I'm revising my review from Excellent to Average rating. It has games for all ages, limited to 2-4 players depending on the game. Each game has different skill levels and options. We enjoy Battleship, which has surprise multi-weapons for more fun and challenge! Yahtzee is great fun just like the home version. Boggle is good with up to 2 players, but the strange words it comes up with as options are definitely not in any English language I've learned! I just wish companies couldn't sell these as the same title game when they are different. I'm certainly glad I didn't put the retail expense of $40 into this! But it's worth a bargain price to just sit back and relax.

Very good adaptation of board games to video games
Created: 07/04/10
I normally would rather play real board games than virtual, but everyone else in my family wanted this game, so we decided to buy it.
The games, for the most part, are well designed, with attractive graphics and good controls. The game hints can interrupt the flow of the game, but those can be turned off. Mr. Potato-head is also present at every game making goofy faces and noises. My kids love him, but he can be turned off if you want.
I was most pleasantly surprised by how fun sorry sliders is. I think I like it better on Wii than I would in real life. Connect 4, battleship and yahtzee all play very well, too.
The are only a few things I don't like about Family game night. The first is the regular sorry game, which is kind of tedious (a lot of pointing and selecting) and takes forever to play (Sorry and Sorry Sliders are always 4 players- even if you are the only one playing, the computer will add virtual players for the remaining spots).
The other is boggle, which is a little difficult to control. Probably ok as a one player game trying to beat your own score, but it gets confusing with 3 or more players all trying to click on letters at the same time.
I still prefer real board games over "virtual" ones. That being said, this is the best translation of board games into video games that I have seen.

Fun nights
Created: 28/08/10
Love this game. It's perfect to play by yourself if your just bored or with the family.Fun nights at anytime. Mr. Potatoe Head's antics are funny and keep the kids involved and laughing. I like the choice to turn off some of the features if you don't want them and the shortcuts it has to make things easier. I did't think I would be playing the Wii much but now that I see it comes with these kind of choices of games and stuff, I definitely will be buying the rest of the family of Game Nigh games.

Hasbro Family Game Night --should say classic games
Created: 05/03/11
Lots of fun games to play on your Wii system including classics like Yahtzee,
Battleship, Sorry and Boggle. There are variations on each that are fun to try but we usually stick with the classic versions...no set up or clean up to play!
Great way for families to reconnect!
