This is a gem of a movie but I don't think it was received very well by the public. It does not have your traditional "happy ending" but it is a happy ending in way. A woman decides to dump the man she is married to and in the process frees herself. From what I understand, it is based on actual events in the author of the book's life. All the actors do a great job and I am a big fan of Meryl and Jack so just having them in the roles as husband and wife was very good casting in my opinion. The soundtrack is wonderful as Carly Simon sings on it and I listen to the album of hers that has the songs from the movie on it and love to relive it again and again.

How can one go wrong with Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson? Based on a novel by the great Nora Ephron, this movie is wickedly funny as it looks at modern romance and its realistic problems. One of my all time favorites and I just had to add it to my own DVD collection! A 'must see', even over and over again!

Jack Nicholas seems to play the womanizing bad boy quite well, and this movie was no exception to the rule. Meryl Streep is very believable as the scorned wife and as always gives a performance worthy of an Oscar. The two together is always a sure winner. I bought this movie, having never seen it, for that very reason and was not disappointed. It is very entertaining and I enjoyed it immensely. I think we have all felt these emotions at times and it is nice to know that when it comes to matters of the heart, know one is above composure! I highly recommend this movie to all women and Jack Nicholas fans.

This is one of the gratest movies of its time. It brilliantly tells a story of the nature of people... how they seem to never change. It tells of hope, misguided as it may be, that keeps us hanging on and drives us to endure even the most heart wrenching agonies. It shows how we can break ourselves against one another in the pursuit of love. It explores the lengths we are willing to go to to have the American dream. The acting is superb, which you expect from such esteemed actors as Streep and Nicholson. The soundtrack, which included a beautiful rendtion of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" by carly Simon, adds a wonderful touch to the story. This movie should not be missed!

Absolutely love this movie. Merryl Streep proves why she is indeed one of the best actresses of our time.
I also love the fact that Carly Simon's song "Coming around again" is featured as the theme throughout this movie.
Jack Nicholson is at his best also although he is far better in "As good as it gets".
