Hercules (DVD, 2000, Gold Collection Edition)

This purchase was a replacement for the VHS version of the same movie. It has additional features that we haven't explored yet. Grandkids have loved the Hercules tale even from the time they were barely more than toddlers. It's a bit edgy and suggestive in places, but not overly suggestive. The naive but honor-bound hero is irresistible and a reasonably good model for portrayal of the way even the most "heavenly" or "hellish" relationships develop on various levels. The heroine, Meg, represents a character that is a bit jaded but heart-of-gold in essence, with charm and vulnerability that endears her to the audience. James Woods' villain is absolutely brilliant, with dialogue that is sharp and clever--loving every minute of hating him.
The modernized version of the rhythm-charged chorus adds to the fun.
Definitely worth having in the collection for repeated viewing.

I bought the Hercules DVD, Gold Collection Edition three weeks ago. The price and the cost of shipping was a great bargan. The DVD was band new. Additional features included "The Making of Hercules" and the music video of Ricky Martin "Go the Distance". I recommend The Hercules DVD to kids of all ages from 1 to 101.

Hercules is an outrageously funny movie!

It is about a strong man (Hercules) who finds out that he is a god, and soon will see that love is powerful. My favorite character is Meg, she gets saved by Hercules. Meg works for Hades god of the dead. (Hades is the bad guy in the movie)

Hercules gets taken and turned into a mortal one night, and his father Zeus gets very angry. When Hercules grows up, he does not know that he is a god. Hercules feels like he does not belong here, so he heads for the temple of Zeus and hears that he needs to find someone named Phil. Through the movie, he tries to become a true HERO!

The first time my son watched this movie, he loved it! Great story telling and wonderful songs were incorporated in this movie. This movie is based on the legendary Greek mythology hero Heracles, (known in the film by his Roman name, Hercules), the son of Zeus, in Greek mythology. I love the plot of the story and the songs! This is a great buy for anyone who loves Greek mythology done in an animated way! A must see!

Since Disney has learned a new way for us to spend more money by having a "VAULT" for their movies, you sometimes cannot purchase their older movies. My son LOVES this show and when my original was broken, I was beside myself trying to get a new one. The product I purchased was a great lifesaver. I think this movie has a great message and lots of color which is great for the little ones. Thank you for all those who sell on e-bay for those of us who need EMERGENCY calming methods!
