Following the nine-times platinum CONFESSIONS, Usher had a tall order to fulfill with 2008's HERE I STAND. To his credit, the R&B sensation didn't merely replicate CONFESSIONS, but instead moved into new thematic territory while still remaining true to his now-patented silky-smooth urban contemporary sound. Lyrically, HERE I STAND reflects Usher's commitments as a husband and father, with songs like "Before I Met You" and "Lifetime" replacing the wild narratives of his bachelor days. R&B's premiere player seems to have grown up.But even given Usher's maturity on this set, there's plenty to please the legions of fans used to his sensual, stylish music. Opener "Love in This Club" is a soaring, thumping anthem featuring a spot by Young Jeezy, while "Part II" boasts appearances by Beyonce and Lil Wayne. "Best Thing," featuring Jay Z, blends hip-hop with Usher's sweet soul. But the album's real highlights--moments like "Trading Places" and the old-school-sounding "Something Special"-- feature Usher's sexy, elastic voice unleashed to full effect, reminding listeners that just because Usher is settling down doesn't mean that he's getting stale.

This new release by Usher is more than welcome. Seventeen easy listening, very likable R&B tracks. Less than one third of the tracks ("Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy, "This Ain't Sex", "What's Your Name" and "Appetite" contains more of an upbeat style, while the rest shows a romantic, whole-hearted side both lyrically and melodically. Both versions of "Love in This Club" of this record reflect these two different moods. Particularly, I prefer the second one featuring Beyonce and Lil Wayne. The last track, "Here I Stand" hides a short song, that seems to be called - apparently - called "Will Work for Love" that begins playing after two minutes of waiting, and is available as a separate track for the digital download version.
Four Stars. This album is very good and will play on my CD player for quite a good time.

) I love this CD! It shows why Usher is one of the best artists out there. He has GREAT vocals in this one like Movin' Mountains. I was hesitant in buy this CD cause I'd never really heard much about it, but I'm glad I bought it. I love the beat in several of the songs, and his lyrics show a great transition into being a father. Great hits with WILL I AM and Jay-Z and the remix of Love in this Club with Beyonce and Lil Wayne. I highly recommend the purchase if this CD especially if your on the fence about buying this one.

) He always puts out good stuff. Never disappointed. Can't wait for his new cd. The only thing i don't like about some of his songs is that a lot are about sex...just make some hit dance music with better lyrics

If you love Usher, this CD is a must have. The songs are awesome, music is great, and Usher is again at his best. Highly recommend...
