    Synopsis
The co-founder of the rock band Mèotley Crèue presents a candid account of his own descent into the hell of drug addiction, describing the impact of heroin on his life and the band.

Though glam-rockers Motley Crue had their heyday in the 1980s, the band has managed, both together and individually, to stay close to the spotlight ever since, even in the realm of the written word. The 2001 Crue biography THE DIRT was a bestseller, as was Tommy Lee's 2005 tell-all, TOMMYLAND. This 2007 release allows bassist Nikki Sixx to tell his own story, centered on one harrowing year of heroin and cocaine addiction, and the slow climb back to sobriety. The book is presented as extensive journal excerpts that chronicle the author's daily life as an addict, with present-day commentary by Sixx and his friends and loved ones. This unique story-telling format helps readers get inside the mind of a substance abuser, and come to understand the person behind the wild rock-star persona.

    Publisher's Note
In one of the most unique memoirs of addiction ever published, Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx shares mesmerizing diary entries from the year he spiraled out of control in a haze of heroin and cocaine, presented alongside riveting commentary from people who were there at the time, and from Nikki himself.

When Mötley Crüe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days -- sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers -- in a coke and heroin-fueled daze. The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions.

Here, Nikki shares those diary entries -- some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre -- and reflects on that time. Joining him are Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Slash, Rick Nielsen, Bob Rock, and a host of ex-managers, ex-lovers, and more.

Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and shockingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom -- and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again.

The notorious co-founder of the legendary rock band M÷tley Crne presents a candid and harrowing account of his own descent into the hell of drug addiction, describing the impact of heroin on his life and the band.

    The Heroin Diaries

    Created: 02/12/08
I loved it, very easy read not for a person looking for a long read. This is a story about a year in the life of Nikki Sixx( bassist, writer, and co-founder of Motley Crue) when his drug use was at his worst. It gives you a blow by blow account of his life back then in his words and others around him at the time. It is very graphic and very self indulgence. Just goes to prove tragedy makes for good reading, and his life is really messed up?

Despite being a huge Motley Crue fan, I felt this book was a wonderful look inside the day-to-day life of a full-blown drug addict. What could be more "real" then an actual daily journal from the addict himself!? If your looking for a book that sugar-coats the lifestyle of an addict, this book is not for you! Mr. Sixx leaves nothing to the imagination when describing his thoughts, fears, concerns etc. Right down to his daily hygeine! Anyone who even remotely thinks drugs are glamourous should read this book. Mr. Sixx tells it like it is and allows the reader a detailed insight to just how out of control his life became. I read the book in just two days! As you may have already guessed, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an honest portrayal of just how low a human being can go to feed their addiction.

    What a story........

    Created: 10/02/08
I bought the book because I was a huge Motley Crue fan in the 80s. I had read "The Dirt" (their biography) and wanted to see 'the other viewpoint.' The story and graphics were very intense (I had a hard time reading it around my 12 year old daughter...too much to try to explain). I liked that Nikki Sixx's daily journal entries were published as is...it seemed. The only complaint about the book was it tended to get a little redundent. But, I guess, when doing the things he did to himself every day was the only things he did, it would be repetative when told in a story. Unbelievable how he was able to even function and perform during that time.... and that's when they were the best!!!

Great story...very intense...a must read for any fan of the 80s hair/metal bands!!!

wonderful book. it lets the every day person see what its really like to be one of biggest rock stars of the 80s and 90s. all the pressure and perks that come with it. and some stupid choices along the way. i also got the soundtrack that gos with the book also named the heroin diaries. its almost as good as the book. maybe nikki sixx and co. should think about making a movie out of the book. im glad i picked it up and read it. careful though because its hard to put down.

This was a very good book about the life of a drug addicted rock star. It moved fast but the story was interesting and fast-paced. The illustrations were interesting. The story was true through the addict's eyes and Nikki Sixx pulls no punches. It was good without being real graphic. It just goes to show a person can have all the money & fame in the world and never be happy with themselves.
