Movie synopsis

The popular Nickelodeon cartoon HEY ARNOLD! gets its big screen animation debut with this feature, directed by Tuck Tucker. The plot finds the kid with the "football-shaped head" (Arnold, voiced by Spence Klein) working overtime to save his New York City neighborhood. Paul Sorvino supplies the voice of the sinister corporate bad guy Scheck, who intends to bulldoze Arnold's block in order to make room for a shopping "mall-plex." With the adults too passive to lift a finger in their own defense (or else profiting from the deal), it is up to Arnold to devise a plan. Luckily he has friends to help him out, like Gerald (Jamil Walker Smith) and Helga (Francesca Smith)--the abusive little girl who harbors a secret crush on him. Arnold develops a crush of his own, on Bridget (Jennifer Jason Leigh), the slinky local super hero who helps him out with a little industrial espionage. Other recognizable voices include Christopher Lloyd and Dan Castallenata (Homer on THE SIMPSONS) as Arnold's Grandpa Phil. The simple, colorful animation and amiable story should make it a hit with young children already enthralled by the television show. Series creator Craig Bartlett cowrote the script with Steve Viksten.

Fun and typical Hey Arnold! Another great long episode!

Created: 24/07/09
If you love the Hey Arnold TV episodes, there's no reason this wouldn't be a favorite of your's. Another silly and fun story from the writers draws you in, and the characters personalities keep you hooked. Although the plot develops fast and ends fast at the end, the story itself is nonetheless great! All characters were included in some way, except very disappointingly Ruth. It's a Nickelodeon movie, and as expected, it's both fun and funny. A new story develops as a large corporation tries to tear down the neighborhood, while Arnold and his friends are determined to prevent this. It's nice to watch a new "episode" since they don't run Hey Arnold anymore. Definitely a keeper.

Hey Arnold - The Movie - Not near as good as the Series

Created: 22/06/07
I really love the series Hey Arnold. I have the Hey Arnold Helga Stories which is a combination of 5 series episodes. This Movie was not that great. They changed the voices of Arnold Helga and his best friend. I think they made a mistake with the changes. The personalities of the main chargacters were off as well. The animation was not near as detailed as the series either. One thing that makes the Hey Arnold cartoon so cool is the jazzy music and sound effects through out the cartoon. This movie had none of that, not even the signature into song with Helga yelling "Hey Arnold". It might as well be a different cartoon with the exception of Grandpa, who in my opinion was the only character who stayed the same-voice and character. In Conclusion, this movie was not near as good as the series Hey Arnold.

the Good ol Days

I like this movie because it reminds me of simpler times and child appropriate humor. The audience stays captivated without crass or desperate attempts or ridiculously expensive special effects. Arnold is a gem, Gerald is to die for and Helga, as usual, steals the show. A+ for this cute, well made movie. A must see!
