Album NotesA string of underground singles in the late 1990s and his high-profile appearance on Gang Starr's MOMENT OF TRUTH had the Boston lyricist's name on the lips of scores of hip-hop purists. Fast forward a decade later and Krumb Snatcha could just as well be categorized among a handful of overlooked Gang Starr-affiliated East Coast MCs if not for the sheer force of his menacing ghetto flow and intelligent content. Setting lofty sights, Krumb offers surprisingly cogent analysis of the Iraq War ("Freedom of expression and democracy is great/When you force it by a gun, then it's a police state") in "The Way" and violence in the music industry ("Rappers get clapped, more better for they marketin'/Thousand new 50's in the label now walkin' in") on "L.O.V.E." Tight boom-bap production-- courtesy of Large Professor, Nickel Plated, Statik Selektah, Mr. Walt, and Pete Rock--and consistently above-bar lyrics make HIDDEN SCRIPTURES a must for underground heads.
Editorial ReviewsWith production from Da Beatminerz and Statik Selektan, the album wins with strong musicality. Thanks to Pete Rock's signature drum kick and chunky bass line, the old-school ode 'Yesterday' conjures memories of the mid-'90s...XXL eBay Product ID: EPID71732781
