When high school jock Troy and class brainiac Gabrielle meet cute auditioning for roles in the school musical, they upset the expectations of their friends and earn the jealousy of the school's two top performing talents. The soundtrack to Disney's enjoyable 2006 original movie (the Disney Channel's first venture into musicals) features stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Anne Hudgens in duets and solo settings, as well as winning performances from supporting cast members Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel. Songs range from the hip-hop style "Get'Cha Head in the Game" to the dreamy "When There Was Me and You," and there are also karaoke versions of the musical's two romantic duets, "Start of Something New" and "Breaking Free."

My husband and me (we dont have children) watched the movie on the Disney channel and the next day I went out and bought the cd. The songs are full of energy and make you want to sing along with the songs. This cd reminds me a lot of the Newsies soundtrack (which is another one of me favorites). Each song is there for a reason and wonderful sang.

This cd also has two songs ("Start of Something New" and "Breaking Free") which are karaoke versions. Also you can insert it into your cd ROM for more special features. Also a song (Get'cha head in the Game) on the CD is performed by B5.

I would reccommend this soundtrack to anyone of any age. It is a fun cd that is easy to sing along with (They have the words to the songs provided in the cover booklet thingie). A+++ all around for this soundtrack!

I'm a big fan of the Disney Channel, I've watched it all my life (I'm 17). I have to say that this is the best movie Disney has ever produced. It is amazing from start to finish. It is the highest rated orginal production Disney has ever had, and they're already working on a sequel.

After watching the movie five or six times, I absolutely had to have the soundtrack. I finally got to Wal-Mart and bought a copy (the last one). The soundtrack features ALL of the songs from the movie, a song that wasn't on the movie, and karaokee versions of Start of Something New and Breaking Free. All the lyrics are included.

I went to a BPA State competition back in March and I had my iPod stereo going with rap music on. I had it on shuffle, and "Breaking Free", my favorite HSM song came on. I was so embarassed, but EVERYONE knew the words. So it's not just for little kids, all people of all ages can enjoy this.

I decided to buy this soundtrack because all I heard 24/7 was my 11-year-old daughter talking about High School Musical. She said all she wanted for her birthday was the soundtrack & the dvd. She received both and our house is now the official High School Musical headquarters! I've heard some of the cd and it's pretty catchy. What I love about the cd is that it's clean, wholesome & fun (you could assume this because it's Disney). What my daughter loves about this cd is that "the songs are awesome and Zac Efron is sooooo cute!!"...enough said.

This is by far the best Disney Channel Movie ever, and this soundtrack CD captures the spirit of the movie perfectly. One to be played over and over again! As soon as I saw the movie, I knew it would be a HUGE hit and bought the CD. Absolutely breathtaking performance by all of the cast, especially the main stars! The "playmaker" here did an **outstanding** job at putting all the available talents to work and displaying the best entertainment combination to come along in a long, long time! I can't wait for High School Musical 2 to come out!

High School Musical is the best movie ever invented!! If you have not seen it, quit reading this, and go watch it now!!! I loved it sooo much I could watch it for the rest of my life. The movie tells about love, heartaches, and persuing your dream. And best of all, it's a family move. The songs and dance numbers are very catchy!! My friend and I always sing the songs whether we are on the bus,in the car,or during class!!!! My favorite song is "When There Was Me and You" performed by Gebriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) But my favorite scene in the movie was "We're All In This Together" I reccomend this movie to everyone. I think everyone can relate to it somehow. Also, there is a book based on the movie. It's out now! Don't miss it!!!
