No Holes In This Story

I love it when the producers of a book turned film have the courage to believe in the original idea and stick to it. Happily that has happened with this film. Holes, based on the novel of the same title, by Louis Sachar, stays true to this riveting tale of Fate and second chances.
Stanley Yelnats gets sent to Camp Green Lake aftering being found guilty of a crime he didn't commit. For the Yelnats this is one more string of bad luck put on their family by Madame Zeroni when their no good, pig-stealing grandfather welched on a promise he'd made her many years ago.
The movie goes seamlessly back and forth through time filling in all the pieces of the puzzle that will lead Stanley to break his family's curse forever.
The film is beautifully cast with some big named stars lending a hand. My favorite is Patricia Artquette playing a heart-breaking Kate Barlow. Sigorney Weaver and Jon Voight are wonderfully mean and campy at the same time.
This is a wonderful movie for any age and there's nothing to worry about with your kids sitting there beside you.

I read the book and loved it and when the movie came out I was so eager to watch it. The movie did a great job staying close to the book and the story is great on the big screen. Starring Shia LaBeouf (TVs Even Stevens) as Stanley Yelnats. He does such a great job and really brings this character to life. This story has great twists in it that are really suprising. Very good ending! Great for any age and great for family night.

I'm speechless!

Based on Louis Sachar’s award-winning children’s book of the same name, "Holes" could be possibly one of the greatest movies I've watched in my lifetime. I remember watching this video at the movie theater as a teenager and considering the countless times I've watched this video it had never gotten old. This movie is perfect for the family and when I say perfect I mean that there are no imperfections whatsoever. The directing, camera angels, storyline - I'm absolutely speechless! This is definitely a must see regardless of your age!

Great, largely over-looked movie. Kids will enjoy it, but it is also a biting commentary on juvenile justice, zero-tolerance, & juvie boot camps. Some very funny performances, especially Jon Voight.
