Hollywood Singing and Dancing: A Musical History (DVD, 2008, 2-Disc Set)

I highly recommend this Musical History, I watched it last night and I was very impressed. The movie is presented very well, the history of the musicals are presented as a educational and enjoyable experience. I remember seeing alot of the musicals when they first were released at the big movie theaters in the fiftys and sixtys, I aboustly LOVED THEM!!! The color of the DVd is excellent, I had such a good time watching, and singing, and reliving the memories. It was a feel good evening, I would recommend this for the enitre family, and for young and old. I am so glad I purchased this movie, more should be said on the great quality

To me this actually is an average movie but gets 'good' because of the clips and the extras. Being a movie buff and musical performer myself, I always enjoy wathcing clips of old musicals. There are a number of them out there now and this one is just another added to the list.
A number of things are totally missed, if they are following basic creativity and historical value of certain musicals. My thoughts, after reading the case, was that it was somehow going to show clips from almost every musical made - although impossible due to copywrite laws and such - I still expected some sort of montage of clips to cover the missing longer clips - but sfter watching the extras (which I said above help raise this to a 'good' standing) it looks like the director only put together HIS favourites. Now give me That's Entertainment for the umpteenth time - that's an excellent movie!

This is a fantastic musical history adventure. We were extremely pleased with the quality of this product. I chose to purchase this because I am a musical buff; the chronology and narrators are excellent.
