"Hoppity is still a Hit in Town"
Created: 08/10/08
This is a full length animated feature cartoon that I first saw as a G.O. film back in elementary school in 1967. All the kids I knew loved this film and I myself never forgot it. Although it was made back in 1941, this movie is still magical and has not lost it's appeal. I only saw it once and for years I never was able to find a copy any place. Finally, I found a well priced vhs cassette copy and ordered it. Although initially one could tell (by the sound) that this film is an old classic, however that's quickly over shadowed by the wonderfully written story. One will sympathize with the life of a "bug" after seeing what those "human ones" unconciously put those bugs through. The characters all have distinct personalities making you love them or dispise them. The beautifully written song "Castle in the air" is nicely highlighted throughout the film and undoubtedly will continue to run through your head. The characters repeatedly face some frustrating and challenging times. There are also a few sad moments up through it's finale. The film, while at times depicts daily life in a big city, it certainly contains some of the most facinating and remarkable art design work (of city buildings) that I've ever seen in an animated film. This is a must see for those who enjoy classic animated cartoons and for those whom enjoy nostalgia of the 1940's. The video and sound quality was good and I enjoyed it emencely watching it several times. Now there are dvd's copies of the movie. Finally after 40 years I was able to relax and enjoy this wonderful animated movie I waited so long to see again. This time around as an adult :)

Hoppity is a cricket who is clumsy and gets into all kinds of trouble without meaning to. This film is full of laughs and music. It is a great film for all ages. You find yourself hoping the bugs will find a safe place to live where the humans cannot hurt them.
What I dislike is that they have not yet put this family film on DVD. The quality of the story would be so much clearer if they did so. It is a very old film and not easy to find.

My Dad had been looking for this for years, every where he went. It brought back such great memories of his childhood. I tracked it down on Ebay and he was so thrilled!
