HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR presents a definitive and immensely enjoyable answer.Comprised of ex-Lonestar lead vocalist/bassist John Rich and longtime Nashville songwriter/scenester Big Kenny, Big & Rich stake a claim as country music's counterpart to They Might Be Giants (or perhaps even Frank Zappa), combining a dizzying array of styles and unorthodox lyrical subject matter with gleeful abandon. Charging out of the gate with a song that borrows from Limp Bizkit and prominently features Cowboy Troy, "the world's only six-foot, five-inch, 250-pound black cowboy rapper," the album careens from Jimmy Buffet-like party anthems ("Big Time") to AC/DC-influenced, double-entendre-laden rockers ("Save a Horse [Ride a Cowboy]"). Luckily, the incredibly high caliber of musicianship and unwavering creative spirit keep the record from ever slipping into parody. Instead, Big & Rich have single-handedly created a new hybrid genre that promises to inspire a host of similarly inclined free spirits.

Not a Big Country Fan - But Big & Rich is Big Fun

Created: 09/10/05
Now I'm not a big country fan - I like the older Tim McGraw. I like Alan Jackson... I don't like much more. But Big & Rich's Horse of a Different Color is a very fun CD that is as much country music as it is pop music - with a mix of rock and hip-hop sprinkled in. But don't just listen to me - this album has gotten rave reviews from critics and has sat atop the country charts for weeks. Their hits have graced intros to ESPN Poker Shows, played halftimes at NFL games, and done cameo appearances for hit TV shows like Vegas. Big & Rich has gotten Big and for good reason - their music is plane old fun.

Horse Of A Different Color - Big & Rich (CD 2004)

Created: 14/12/06
I INSTANTLY fell in love with a song that (at the time) I didn't know was from this CD called "Wild West Show" that was being played on my local CW Stations to promote new artists (to us) "Big & Rich." Everytime I heard it I cranked up the radio, and after hearing it about a half a dozen times and never hearing the NAME of the CD the DJ's jumped to the next most popular B & R tune called (of course) "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy" and that was the end of my hearing my new favorite song! I couldn't find the song anywhere locally so I gave up and began looking for B & R on CMT and wherever else I could find them on TV. Still, I never heard my favorite song again until one night recently I did a search on eBay for B & R CDs and up popped "Wild West Show" and used or not, I bought it immediately!

Although I never have bought a CD player for my personal use I can play it right here on my computer as many times as I want, whenever I want, as loud as I want--what more can an old Grandma ask for?? LOL :-D At 55.75 y/o I'm sure I'LL be long gone and worn out LONG before this CD ever will be! ;-)

I LOVE eBay--for me it is THE biggest shopping mall in the world that I can have access to anytime I want w/out even having to leave home if I choose, and at my age with partially disabled legs it means everything to me to KNOW I can still get my shopping done conveniently, w/out having to fight crowds and stand (very painfully) in long checkout lines! I ALWAYS get GREAT DEALS in eBay and LOVE these little "surprises" I come across when searching! THANK YOU eBay from the bottom of my heart and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to ALL Sellers and Buyers out there!!!

Cowboy Rock 'n Roll Country

Created: 30/08/08
This CD has a little something for everybody. The music is phenomenal. The vocals will have you rocking, hollering, clapping and just having a great time.

* “Rolling” opens the CD in Big & Rich style – open, honest, real Country
* “Wild West Show” is so good – Listen to it a couple of times and really hear the lyrics
* “Live This Life” is a great testimony
* “Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy” sounds like a ‘can’t miss’ party

All in all – Buy it when you get the chance!

Take a ride on their love train.

These two voices compliment each other so well. If you're afraid all the good songs on the album were released as singles, think again. There's plenty more you'll enjoy that didn't make it to radio. "Saved" is my favorite of these. How can you not enjoy a song with the lyrics, "Last night I told the devil where to go."

I was so glad when John Rich finally hit it big. He was once one of the lead vocalists for Lonestar but left to make it on his own. I always thought he was a much more talented singer than what's-his-name from Lonestar. Now he's enjoying the success he deserves, harmonizing with Big Kenny.

At first I didnt care for the song Save A Horse but about the third time it grew on me. Now I can't get enough of Big and Rich, Gretchen Wilson or Cowboy Troy. A lot of people say this ain't country but I tend to disagree. This is what country music is coming to.
