House of Cards Trilogy 3-Pack Gift Set (DVD, 2003, 3-Disc Set)

Fascinating story which won many awards on BBC. Ian Richardson is wonderfully deceivingly and Machiavellian. Also a fascinating insight into British Parliament, as well as the division between the Parliament and the Monarchy. DVD #2 is the best in the lot (To Play The King). Really helped me understand something about how the British system works...fascinating!

Ian Richardson, of the Grey Poupon commercials, tops even that performance with this one as an utterly ruthless, backstabbing British politician. Although twenty years have passed since this series was produced, it is the timeless characters that make this series worth watching. I saw it a decade or more ago and I still remembered some of Francis Urquhart's ("F. U.", evidently an intentional joke by the writer) coldblooded and sneering dialogue. If you buy this, you will likely find yourself watching it again every few years...until they stop making DVD players, at least.

For anyone fond of Brit series with an edge you should try this one. Well acted throughout and fiendish plots running at various levels of UK politics. It gets five stars from me as well worth having in your collection.

Will be watching again and again it is a must see. You must set time to watch the all three movies at one time.

i'm not big on british shows the way most people love brit coms and such but this series is spectacular. love the plot and cast. excellent.
