Awesome Thriller...Couldn't put it down!

Created: 01/10/07
Fantastic thriller by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. I'm an avid thriller reader from Stephen King and Dean Koontz, to Catherine Coulter. Also, love my horror movies! Oddly enough, I am a christian but don't really care for Christian fiction. I read this however and LOVED it! I couldn't put it down. Great flow to the writing and enough scare in it to keep me interested. The christian aspect to it is VERY subtle but still there which I did enjoy. I've leant this to a friend of mine who is a horror junkie as well and she read it overnight, saying it was great! She couldn't put it down as well. Well worth the money!

I am a Ted Dekker fan, and some of his previous works are in my Top 10, but I can't say this one is one my favorites from him. Since this is a collaboration between Dekker and Peretti, this may fall into another stylistic category. The concept was strong, and characterization was good, but I found it difficult to stay engaged with the plot due the monotony of the setting. My interest level seemed to wain after imagining the same set of rooms, tunnels and corridors over and over again. But, to their credit, that repitition may be purposeful. On some level that does allow you to emphathize with the enigmatic and terrorizing plight of these main characters.

I bought it for a private middle school library. The kids love that book. I haven't read it. Peretti writes exciting novels.
