    Movie synopsis

Steven Price (a very hammy Geoffrey Rush) is a wealthy amusement park owner who invites several strangers to his shrewish wife's birthday party, this year held in the abandoned Vannacutt Institute for the Mentally Insane. There, he offers a prize of one million dollars to each party-goer who can spend the entire night in the creepy and cavernous building. As Mr. and Mrs. Price play a bitter game of cat and mouse, the guests begin to think there are more ominous forces at work, especially after the body count begins to creep higher and higher. A remake of the 1958 low-budgeter starring Vincent Price.

HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL VHS MOVIE

    Created: 05/08/07
With the movie starting with a viewing of an Asylum House to a Roller Coaster Ride, confusion immediately set in for me as to what this movie would be about...once the "games" began, and even though I hate blood, stabbing, and decapitations, I had to know who would be the survivors of the "haunted house game". This game and house ended up being much more than just that - both the game and the house were truly haunting.

There were millions of dollars to be won by the party invitee(s) who survived overnight in this house of haunting "games".

I did not figure out the PLOT [if there was one] of why who won - until the end...Keep in mind - who did not "fit" the final Invitation/Guest List?

    Wickedly Scary

It was in many ways a different type of horror movie. With dry comedy. I originally watched this movie in the theater and was not even aware of what I was getting myself into. I had never seen any trailors. When the movie began I was gripping the chair til the end. Wonderfully frightning. Its no Freddy but that Doctor gives me the chills.

I bought this movie for my son, who loves it. He has been looking for it for a long time, and I told him I would check eBay. He said the movie was GREAT!!! He watched it no less than 4 times the night he got it.

I didn't think that this movie was as good as the original. I usually likethe original better. It lacks something.
