House: Season Two (DVD, 2006, 6-Disc Set, Anamorphic Widescreen)

Hugh Laurie, Omar Epps|Theatrical release: 2005 | Rating: Not Rated

Movie synopsis

Part E.R. and part C.S.I., HOUSE is a medical mystery television show that's appealing due to its creative camerawork, interesting characters, and twisting plotlines. Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) is a brilliant medical professional, but often alienates his patients and co-workers because of his abrasive manner and bitterness. In each episode House is faced with a person exhibiting a number of unusual symptoms, and along with his team of dedicated doctors and nurses, must discover what strange illness is afflicting the patient before it's too late. The show moves at a rapid pace, spurred by its turning and suspenseful plotlines and the lively interaction between the characters, played by a strong supporting cast that includes Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, and Sela Ward. HOUSE: SEASON TWO collects all 24 episodes of the program's second year.

House - Season Two (2006, DVD)

Created: 12/07/06
After ER, Chicago Hope, and dozens of other medical dramas, how many really good stories could be left? Turns out, quite a few if done in the right way with an excellent cast. House M.D. breathes new life into the hospital drama by adding a dash of CSI type sleuthing with a stellar cast, led by Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House and also starring Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps, Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer, and Robert Sean Leonard.

Dr. Gregory House is an incredibly unusual doctor. He dislikes patients, is partially crippled by a muscular disorder, pops Vicodin like they are tic-tacs, and is addicted to reruns of General Hospital. He would rather read a medical journal or hide out in the OB/GYN lounge than deal with a patient. His true purpose in life is leading a team of young doctors in diagnosing the usually rare and fatal maladies that baffle most doctors. Here House is part Sherlock Holmes and part Gil Grissom. He assembles the puzzle, often failing to get the pieces right, until finally the solution is arrived at. In the meantime he runs rampant across the hospital, badgering or simply bullying his way into getting what he needs to try and help the patient. His bedside manner is not pleasant, in fact House is a jerk because being a jerk is the fastest way to get patients healthy.

Season 2 started off a bit slow overall as a subplot about House and his ex-girlfriend Stacy (Sela Ward) takes up too much screen time, but once she departs the season picks up dramatically. There is quite a bit of character growth for the staff: Dr. Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) still holds a bit of a torch for House but moves on to other and more risky things, Dr. Chase (Jesse Spencer) has difficulty dealing with the death of his father and still doubts his own abilities at times, and Dr. Foreman (Omar Epps) discovers that he is willing to step on others to ensure his own success, and that sometimes tragedy strikes closest to home. Dr. Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) and Dr. Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) get some great screen time, becoming more three-dimensional and much more interesting, and we learn quite a deal more about House and the skeletons in his closet that make him tick.

The 2nd season set contains 24 episodes, with the best coming towards the end of the season, several featurettes, and at least one commentary according to the tvshowsondvd guys. Top episodes include Sex Kills, All In, Sleeping Dogs Lie, House vs God, and the brilliant two-parter Euphoria, which showcases some phenomenal acting by Epps, Morrison, and Laurie. The writing is particularly fresh, original, and inspired, and the cast seems to thrive on the energy. Some of the incredible guest stars include LL Cool J, Ron Livingston(Office Space), Alanna Ubach(Legally Blonde), Cynthia Nixon(SATC), Greg Grunberg(Alias), Samantha Mathis(Pump up the Volume), Michelle Trachtenberg(Buffy), Elias Koteas(Traffic), Charles S. Dutton(Threshold), Michelle Clunie(Queer as Folk), and D.B Sweeney(The Cutting Edge). Improving on a great rookie season is difficult, but House M.D. succeeds brilliantly. Pick up your copy today. Highly Recommended.

House: The best medical drama on television!

Created: 02/02/08
I started out watching House at random times with my wife. At first I disliked the show. Too many difficult medical jargon and not enough action. Then my wife made me rent and watch the entire first season. Since then I love the show! It grips you from the beginning! As soon as the medical problem begins, you have no choice but to be drawn in, wondering, "what could be wrong and how will they fix it this time?" Aside from the incredible storyline that has run the entire life of the show, each episode has it's own unique story that would keep even the newest watcher riveted! Also, the acting by lead man Hugh Laurie is unbeatable! He is amazing as an actor in his ability to convincingly portray a manically depressed American doctor with his own underlying inner battles and constantly unsure views on life, love, religion and the world at large. This series is not just a perfect match for fans of medical dramas, but a perfect match for fans of all television drama genres! I highly recommend this show and this season of it for anyone who enjoys drama, medical drama, or just really good acting combined with intense suspense and riveting story lines! SHAZAM!!!

Love this show!!

Dr. House is the reason I watch TV!! I am glad I was able to find the second season so cheap, and this season is one of the best seasons so far. Hugh Laurie is perfect as the "narcissistic pain in the a**" Dr. Gregory House who diagnoses his patients in between doses of Vicodin. This season includes the two-parter "Euphoria," and features LL Cool J, Sela Ward, and various other guest stars.

medical shows

I dont know about you but too me it seems like this past few years medical shows got an extra boost. E.R. a long running series on NBC seemed like it was going down the drain, and no one watched since it just got too confusing.
But for me there are only two good quality medical/drama's left grey's anatomy and House. House is just a show that is so interesting. and it is partially because of the character of house, the lead doctor, is so bizarre. House is not the normal doctor he tries to get to the point when the patient is about to just die on the ground but then how figures out he cure and makes the patient better. The formula of the all the episodes follows this rutine and can get quite boring but its the characters and bizarre diseases that keep you coming in for more.
An overall good show not alot of sex and stuff like that, as in Grey's Anatomy, but more of a show that you might be able to let your kids watch if over the age of fifth grade.

House Season 2 DVD

House, the TV show has become a huge hit, the reason why, I would say the great cast. You don't have to be a medical student to follow along as Dr House (Hugh Laurie) gives you a does of his bedside manner. I truely funny show I like to watch every week. No better way to see it from the start then seeing it on DVD, you can even watch it again!
