PL (Linear Polarizing) and PL-CIR (Circular Polarizing) filters have the same effect, but it is important that you choose the correct version for your camera. They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc. They also enable colors to become more saturated and appear clearer, with better contrast. This effect is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds. HOYA's polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot. | |

) If you are looking for a decent priced Circular Polarizer, dont look any further. This Hoya is a good one. I was using a no name 'Made in China' $10 filter. Then I read somewhere that it makes no sense to put that in between the $500 lens and your subject. It made complete sense. So I spent the extra $30 and got this one. Best quality. Gentleman who sold it to me had purchased it from London Drugs. I met him in person and he seemed legit, so definitely an original. Beware of some real-looking knock offs. If you can afford $100 something for filters, buy the B+W or Heliopan filters. If not, get Hoya, best priced mid-range filters.

For example, you want to make a picture of the person standing up for glass, without a polarizing lens at you it will not turn out a good picture. Or you want to photograph something on a water surface, the polarizing lens will clean parasitizing patches of light.
Good luck and creative successes. Better or anything.

Excellent filter. Made in the Philippines, a very high quality, as it was written in the product description. The perfect combination of price and quality. I bought it because, when conducting tests in no way inferior to the more expensive filters. And I'm not mistaken.
