HP Compaq Tablet PC TC4400 Tablet PC

This is a great tablet. The reason I gave it 5 Stars is because the fact it has almost 2 gigs of ram, its a Core2Duo Centrino T7200 Processor, it functions as a regular laptop (just without an optical drive) so I can either use it as a laptop with the keyboard or use it in slate mode. Its just so great, so many good things to say about it. Running Windows 7 Ultimate on it right now, gonna load the 64 Bit version later on. Audio is great, Fingerprint scanner works great with Windows 7, sometimes the fingerprint isnt always accurate but otherwise if i do it just right i dont have to enter in my password. Only thing that I dont like is that it doesnt have a Optical Drive, but i expected that when I was researching this tablet and the TC4200. I wouldve bought the NC6230 if i wanted an optical drive. I like to burn discs but I don't use the DVD ROM feature of the drive, most of my software is on my external hard drive anyways... and most other free software is constantly updated and available online. One negative is that I had undone the tether on the stylus pen and dropped it, the pen stopped working however that was due to me not the seller. Thats another reason I gave it 5 Stars, its just a great overall tablet. Dedicated Keyboard +++, Switched from "netbook" to Slate so easily. Hinge seems very sturdy too. Fan gets moderately loud, definitely not as loud as previous laptops I've owned. This tablet stays cool too! Unlike the TC1000/TC1100 will burn the hair on your legs (if you have hair on your legs). What else can I say about this tablet without rambling on? lol. Unrelated to the tablet, If you install Windows 7, be sure to find drivers for Windows Vista for this tablet as there are no official Windows 7 Drivers right now, Windows Vista drivers will suffice. Make sure you download the Wincom Tablet Driver and the fingerprint Driver, for the fingerprint software use: Digital Persona Personnel for Windows Vista. The HP Provided Fingerprint software doesnt work for Windows 7. The screen size doesn't bother me, someone at my work said its a small screen but even with it being relatively small the screen resolution isnt bad at 1024 x 768 Pixels. Still easy to read text and write on. This tablet has 3 usb ports which is okay, 4 or more would be great but im not complaining. The tablet has a Sensor which can read the surrounding light around you and adjust the screen brightness accordingly which is cool. Hard drive size was okay for me since i use my external 500gb USB Hard Drive for storage. I might consider buying a 500gb Western Digital for the tablet. Oh, by the way I had to use an external IDE DVD ROM to install Windows 7 Ultimate, since it wouldnt read my SD Card to install from. BIOS must not support the SD Card Boot Option. Another negative id point out is depending what screen rotation you have the tablet in when in Slate Mode, you can sometimes power off the computer when resting your hands on the sides (power button is on the left hand side of the tablet). Theres not really much else I can mention about this tablet without ranting/rambling on more... Its a great tablet and if you want a Tablet but want a full solid keyboard too, BUY THIS ONE. The HP TC1100 has a Keyboard Accessory but looks very flimsy... Some of the Android Tablets look good, but on most Android Devices the battery sucks. This battery lasts 3 1/2 hours+ depending on usage!

I decided to but a tablet since as a student I write a lot of notes. This is the best investment since I can write note for many different classes and save them and not have to bring tons of notebooks around. It's an everything in one! I love that I can turn in as a regular laptop and then as a tablet that looks like a notebook in class. The weight is not a problem and it doesn't overheat and make noises so it's not distracting. A must purchase for any student!

The TC4400 was one of the "top of the line" models from HP back in 2007 and it shows. I bought it because i wanted something suitable for digital sketching and painting. The pressure-sensitive stylus is very accurate and the small form factor of the notebook make it an ideal sketchpad and e-reader. It comes with a programmable jogdial on the side of the screen, which can be used for scrolling up/down while reading documents, or for zoom/pan/rotate keys when drawing.

The screen uses AFFS technology (a variation of IPS) which means that the image will look the same from all viewing angles. AFFS/IPS is a must-have feature for the type of applications a TabletPC is designed for - reading, browsing and drawing. The screen is protected by a chemically strengthened glass, so it is much harder to scratch up or crack the LCD matrix compared to a normal notebook screen. A very rare feature and a very useful one is the S-Video port at the back for connecting to a TV.

As far as specs go, it has a dualcore processor and supports up to 4GB DDR2. This is quite a powerful machine for 2007 and still more than what an average notebook from 2011 can provide. The DDR2 memory support is important, because DDR2 can be found much cheaper and easier compared to DDR1 on the TC4200.

The only problem i found with it is the lack of an optical drive, but that was a nuisance only when installing the OS. Otherwise it's not really necessary. An optional external USB optical drive can be attached if needed.

The fingerprint reader is a nice feature, but is more of a gimmick and not something i use very often.

The graphics card is a pretty weak "Intel Integrated" one, making this PC unsuitable for gaming, like most notebooks. The card supports DirectX a little better than OpenGL.

In conclusion, the HP TC4400 is a perfect drawing and content creation product which, although a little old by now, offers everything you really need from a TabletPC.

This is little 12.1 inch screen 2ghz duo core tablet is everything I expected and more. I watched just about every review on youtube before buying this tablet so I knew exactly what I was getting. I have a desktop pc at home that I do all my work on and I use this tablet for work and presentation type stuff. But mostly to haul all of my manuals that contain 400+ pages in .PDF form. Saves me loads of weight and storage space.

-can run x64 bit OS (vista ultimate x64)
-very crisp/sharp screen
-While there is only one speaker, it is a very exceptional one. I was concerned about that when I bought it, but I'm glad I didn't let that detour me.
