Best Printer I ever owned.

Created: 07/03/10
I do businees work and just general printing with this HP. It's fast, warms up very quick, isn't noisy either. It's fairly compact yet a serious office machine. The copies are very crisp and nice. If there was any negative I noticed; when I put paper through the manual feeder it will pull through more than one sheet. To avoid this I don't stack the paper there, I feed it one at a time. This could just be something with my machine, or the 4100 in general. It doesn't really bother me too much through. And it never does it when it's taking paper out of the paper tray, which by the way holds plenty of paper. I believe 500 sheeets. The paper tray is where I most always print from anyway, I rarely use the other paper tray. By the way, maybe it's how I had the paper in the paper tray in the front, (you fold down the front door then put your paper there). One time it pulled through about 10 heavy pieces of stationary paper at one time, that's thick! It did not even jam!! Just pulled it right through. I would absolutely buy this machine again. I searched ebay and found a great deal on mine. New they were expensive, I think in the $750 to $1100 range. I got mine for a fraction of that. Also what I like is the very long time between maintenace cycles, I probabaly will never even make that amount of copies on the machine in the time I own it. Toner is inexpensive and you get a lot of copies out of each. And I believe it's all in one, as in the drum is part of it too. So you just change one component and your done. In summary, it's a heavy duty, fast machine. I decided to buy it based on other peoples reviews and am very happy with my choice. Never thought I would personally be so happy with a printer. Just to add, before this I had an inexpensive Samsung laser Printer. It was noisy, took more time to warm up and the copies weren't as nice.
And of course it wasn't as fast. The HP 4100, was less money used than I paid for my Samsung new, and it's so much more of a machine in every respect.

Building on the success of the 4000/4050

This model is a final polishing of the most prolific workgroup printer HP has made, the LJ4000/4050 series. More speed, improved reliability of the accessories (duplexer/feeder) and more configuration options make a good choice. 25 ppm, more memory capability, what more could you ask for?

These printers are tanks. No doubt about it. And there are so many of them out there, they can be had cheaply, usually run about forever, and are usually not worth repairing (just get another reconditioned one on ebay). You can get replacement rollers and fusers (need a rebuilt one every 200,000+ pages, I think) inexpensively. Not to mention that there are good rebuilt toners from reliable sources on ebay too.

BTW... I've seen occasional issues in the print output (from certain apps) when using the Windows NT/XP PCL driver for the 4100. If this happens, change to the 4000 or 4050 PCL driver and it will usually solve that problem - all those drivers are built into XP.

The product is good but the service is great. I would recommend these guys to anyone. We had a problem with one of two printers and they sent another right away. They first tried to solve the problem but when it couldn't be corrected they did not question the replacement. Wonderful service!

Great Laser Printer for heavy use with little cost

I have several of these in our office. They are very easy to set up and network, extremely cheap for toner and best of all they seem to last forever. Our office prints 200-1200 pages a day with no problems at all.
