Cute little machine, probably great for photos

    Created: 09/03/07
This is a sleek looking little printer with a small footprint. I know that it's mostly for printing photos, and it probably does a good job of that, but I purchased it to use to print receipts in a small business. I've only used it a short time, and so my thoughts may change later, but so far:

    Pros:
Small - not too much space needed

    Cons:
I bought it for speed - it's rated at 30 pages ppm on the B&W option. But there's no way it's that quick, even when set on the draft.

HP software install - I don't know why HP thinks they must give you all the knowledge they have every time you purchase a product, but it takes FOREVER to install all the little gadgets it thinks it needs, and it takes a lot of room on your harddrive.

    Overall:
I am happy enough with this unit. Next time I will not get a photo printer to do a plain paper job. I'll probably move it to my home for use with my digital camera later.

Better than the last photo printer I owned

    Created: 06/04/09
This printer came just in time for me. We needed to replace another HP printer that just completely stopped working. I also wanted a photo printer as we were going to print one of our engagement photos for our wedding invitation. So far, I love this computer. The pictures do take a while to print however, they look gorgeous! Especially on the HP Premium Photo paper. And I have not had a problem with anything smearing when I was printing on vellum. Of course the printer is great for all our other printing needs and is about the same size as our other printer (just taller). It has a small storage bin for when you need to switch the black cartridge out for the color photo ink cartridge. Very convenient.

    I am satisfied

For an inexpensive printer, this is quite good. I am not sure what the other posters are saying that the printing is bad. I printed some 4x6 on the best quality HP Premium plus photo paper with the highest quality ink (HP99) and resolution and the photos came out fantastic. I know it's expensive, but that is a tradition with ink jet printers. As far as the paper jam issue this has not happened to me. The two issues was the install CD was defective (had to download from the HP .com) and for some reason I hear very slight hum/buzz coming from the printer (even when it's powered off). This would not be a big deal, except that I am a noise freak. Does anybody else hear this from their printer??? - reliability is yet to be determined, as I just got it.

HP 8050: Great print quality and cost efficient ink use

    Created: 06/02/07
This item was purchased due to a review I read on PCWorld.com. The printer was one of the top five photo printers the site reviewed.

Pros: Quality, speed, ease of use, features (Bluetooth!), and ink efficiency. I have printed numerous sizes from this machine and it does the job well without sucking the tanks dry.

Cons: HP includes an external paper cartridge for 4x6 and 5x7 prints. While this isn't a terrible or annoying idea, it's still something that could have been added directly to the loading system (saving HP some cashflow). The 8250 is manufactured with this cartridge built into the main loading system.
