Human Trafficking (DVD, 2006)

I had seen this before and it struck a chord with me. It is scary to see people treating other people like chattel and property. Still despite that it is a powerful movie with some good actors. Robert Carlye does a great job of playing Sergei, the main villain in this movie, plus he has a posse of henchmen (and a woman too) doing his nefarious deeds the world over. Thankfully we have Mira Sorvino and Donald Sutherland to be our heroes. The antagonist's has extended his reach all over the world and the movie often jumps between countries in Europe, America and the Philippines where another girl is abducted (and not by the aliens either)since she is a virgin and and is purchased for a harem. The movie is in two parts since it was originally a miniseries and ends up being around three hours long. The DVD I purchased was unrated and also had some special features along with interviews with some of the cast.

This movie portrays one the highest grossing illegal trade, humans (mainly women) for sex. It tracks three young women, in their capitivity in one man's human trafficking ring and one FBI agent in the ICE, to find them, and save them. It is a very good movie. It is not sappy or a "chick flick" and there very few parts that one could say they "did it for show/hollywood". Once you see this movie, you will be permantly affected by the aweful reality that has become of this country, and others.

unfortunately it is a fact of life whether we like it or not. we all have little or big boys or girls in our families whom we love. To lose and not beable to find ones we love is heartbreak. To be the one we love, and be existing in a world of unknowns, disbelief, sadness,and maybe loss. Trafficking babies, children and adults is a underworld business, hard to trace, harder to end. This movie made me mad, made me cry with the characters, realize what a hardship it is to try to break down the doors of pure unadulterated demeaning groups of humans who have no social behaviour to use and disrespect others.

Human Trafficking is a very good movie. It deals with the issue of transporting and enslaving young women and girls as sex slaves. I think this movie is great for everyone to see how this malicious act is committed and what people can do to stop it and prevent themselves from becoming victims.

Bought this DVD to take overseas with me when I go back to my wife and daughters homeland in the Ukraine. They had no idea this was going on in their country, and would love for them to show it to their friends when we visit this Summer. I had seen the documentary on this problem earlier, and had actually seen the lady involved in trafficing while I was in the Ukraine, so this subject really hits home for me.
