The Indian in the Cupboard (DVD, 2001)

Frank Oz, Hal Scardino|Theatrical release: 1995 | Rating: PG (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

Good things often come in little packages, as young Omri (Hal Scardino) discovers when he receives a present from his friend Patrick, a plastic Indian figure that comes to life after Omri locks him in his toy cupboard. Little Bear (Litefoot), an Iroquois Indian from 1761, opens up new worlds of thought, experience, and tolerance to young Omri. A few disastrous experiments with other toys in the cupboard and Patrick's insistence on receiving his own living toy reveals to Omri that the "toys" have feelings just as he does, no matter how small their stature. Frank Oz (BOWFINGER) directs from a script from Melissa Mathison (E.T.).

Fantasy tale favorite of grandson

Created: 07/01/08
I bought this for my grandson who has viewed it several times & still likes to rerun my copy. With the fantasy of imagination this seems to be a delightful tale that even I enjoyed along with my grandson & his sister. It's delightful in ways & dramatic in other ways but a story that acceptable with family values in mind. For anyone who likes the imagination of figures smaller than lifesize that magically appear @ a young boy's opening a small cupboard this is a delight!

This is a great movie ! I'd seen it when I was younger and I bought it for my little boy cause I knew he'd love it as much as I did, and I was right! The little boy gets this storage cabinet a little plastic indian figure is inside, and the figure comes to life and he takes up residence in the boys room! I laughed and I cried over and over throughout the movie.I highly recommend this movie for every child 3 thru 99 years of age!

My kids and we loved it on vhs long ago, now we can enjoy it again this time on dvd!!!!! What precious memories, takes me right back to when they were little. I still remember the trailer for this movie, so clearly. So suspensful and drawing and inviting. We HAD to see it after all those teasers during other movies.

This movie is a classic! It is a story about a little boy and a toy Indian that is bought to life in a strange cupboard. It is absolutely adorable and I would recommend it for all ages. My eleven year grandson said it was his favorite as well as my five and seven year old granddaughters.

Indian in the cupboard

This is another of our family favorites we are replacing VHS with DVD. Our oldest grandson loved this when he was about 6. It's hard to find things that help kids entertain themselves with thier own imagination.
