Simple point and shoot camera.
Created: 03/05/10
While looking for a mid-priced camera, I came across the Insignia ns-ds10a and was unsure of the quality, but the price caught my attenion. Also knowing that Insignia is the house brand of Best Buy I thought why not give it a try. The camera is a basic model, very easy to use. The LCD screen is not that clear and you may have a hard time to see in direct sunlight. The construction is solid comparable to cameras costing about $125.00 price range.
Overall very happy with the purchase, quality of picts are very good, easy to use,
Bottom line: If your looking for a SIMPLE point and shoot, no bells and whistles this is your camera.

Good value for the money.

I wanted to give an elderly friend an easy-to-use digital camera. She had never used a digital camera or a computer, so my main concern was ease-of-use, as well as reliability & price. After reading dozens of reviews by 'experts' and consumers (Amazon 'buyer reviews' are often helpful & provide first hand pros & cons), I purchased a refurbished Insignia (Best Buy brand) with a 2GB SanDisk memory card.
The camera works great. After a brief review of the camera's functions & controls, my friend has no difficulty using most of the cameras features. She also loves the soft metallic pink color. And despite the camera's small size, she says the battery compartment provides a little extra thickness making it easy to hold.
There are 2 cons. First, the LCD screen appears a bit grainy and when in direct sunlight sometimes the image on the LCD is washed-out & difficult to see. Second, the shutter release seems take a second while the auto-focus & other 'point & shoot' settings are optimized which is frustrating when trying to take a quick action shot. Despite the cons, the Insignia NS-DSC10A is a good camera for the money.

Insignia NS-DSC10 10 Megapixel Digital Camera

The DSC10 is a great little camera. It's size makes it perfect for daily carry in a shirt pocket or front pant pocket. It's ergonomically user friendly, has a wide range of settings for any shot imaginable and does great when using the flash. The automatic settings offered are great for quick shots. The zoom feature is easy to use and the Macro setting renders beautiful close ups. Also, the ability to choose your MP and quality settings is helpful when memory is limited. The video function is ideal for taking action footage of any event. If you can find one of these little jewels for around 50 bucks, I recommend you buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Insignia digital camera DSC10B

It is a good camera with many features built in. Price is right. Uses 2 AA batteries (3V). Both SD and SDHC memory cards can be used with the camera. This camera can also be used as a camcorder.
Things that I dont like: Battery problem - Rechargeable batteries most of them are 1.2V and with two of them gives only 2.4V. So if we use them with the camera it discharges fast, thereby needing frequent recharge.
The quality is not good to use as a camcorder. The camera size is little bit large compared to the latest slim ones, but definitely you need to pay more for the slim beauties.
Overall it is worth the money.

good camera, with a few features missing +lower quality

This is a good camera. It unfortunately lacks the features of the NS-DSC7P09, 7mp pink camera that also uses AA batteries made by Insignia. The NS-DSC7P09 lets you set the amount of exposure time while the NS-DSC10A does not. A couple of other features are in the NS-DSC7P09 which aren't in the NS-DSC10A. Also the NS-DSC10A has pictures that are a little more grainy (yes lens is perfectly clean) than almost every new camera out there.
