I did the Roomba... And so did my dogs!!!

    Created: 14/08/06
This is actually an excellent vacuum. When it arrives, you put int the battery pack, plug it in for 7 hours and then turn it loose. It will run for 3 hours on one charge. While that amount of time seems kinda small, remember that it is cleaning for 3 hours. It has excellent suction, not just for a small vac, but for any vac. I was surprised.
There is a problem though, and not what you'd think. Children and pets. The same issue applies to both. I'll address pets since my kids are just about grown. You're thinking (like my mother did) that this would be a great toy for the cat to chase around while the vacuuming gets done, right? Wrong. My dog was laying on the floor and we figured the roomba would just bump into her and move on. No Way Jose! Sucked up dog hair right off the dog. My 12 year old son was watching this and decided to see just how hard it sucked. Stuck his toe down there. The roomba latched on and my son had to literally free himself from the vac. It really does have suction!!! The other problem is strictly about pets. We have 3 large, long-haired dogs. I bought my roomba thinking if it picked up the hair during the week, I'd only have to lug out my heavy duty Kirby once on the weekends. Wrong!!! If you have multiple pets with long hair (3 inches or longer) be prepared to spend a 1/2 hour after the roomba finishes it's cycle cleaning the wound up hair off the brush. They give you a cool little tool when you buy the roomba, but it still takes some work. My best friend has long, long hair and so does her husband and daughter. She can't use a roomba for the same reason. Part of it for us is that we both are on disability for our hands (carpal tunnel nerve damage, fibermalsomething, and cronins), and let's face facts: It might not be such a big deal if we had working hands.
The facts in a nutshell: Great Vacuum - Great Suction - Works Continuously for 3 hours - Not Pet Friendly - Use MAJOR Supervision Around Small Children - Requires Manual Cleaning, including the brushes and lint trap -
This really is an excellent investment if you heed the above warnings.

    Little Vacuum - Big Results

    Created: 20/09/06
I bought this sleek little red vaccuum about 2 years ago. It has lasted and does a good job on automatically cleaning the carpets between use of the big vacuum.

    PROS:

It is easy to turn on and you just let it do it's own thing to pick up the surface dirt on the carpet. It starts off doing a very tight circle then starts roving in a random pattern that cleans the whole room on one charge and covers the whole room well.

It is also pretty easy to empty once it has cleaned the room.

It is easy to charge up but does need to remain plugged in prior to use, or it does lose its charge.

    CONS:

Before you run this vacuum it does require that most items be picked up... so if the kids toys are laying around and it is bumping into them, it will get stuck a lot and not find it's way around the whole room.

Because it is round it doesn't really get into the corners very well.

Every once in a while it does get stuck in some closely spaced legs of the furniture or furniture with a low clearance. (But on a the whole it goes on it's own and cleans the whole room on one charge.)

On the whole it gets plenty of use and is a useful tool in keeping the house clean. Best of all, we can bring it out to entertain Roomba-less house guests.

    Roomba vs. the Labrador puppy

    Created: 05/08/07
Keep this little thing charged up and your floors will be much cleaner. The Roomba has been a great item for us. It gets into hard to reach spots such as under beds and furniture. We use it mostly on tile floors since sweeping tends to just stir up dirt and dust but it works just fine on carpet. We have a growing puppy who does shed and the Roomba does a great job keeping up with it. We'll set it when we leave for work or head to the grocery store or wherever. When we get back the floors are much cleaner. The trick becomes finding it since when it is done or the batteries run out that's where it stops. Some helpful hints--keep it on the charger when not in use as the battery life is not overly long. Also be sure to empty the trash out of it. I'll promise you'll be amazed at how much it picks up no matter how clean you think the floors are. If you are looking for a quiet cleaner this may not be the one for you but it's no louder than an average vacuum and is more quiet than some.

Roomba is a great maintenance droid

    Created: 31/03/10
The Roomba Red is a 4000 Series iRobot Vacuum. These devices are really pretty amazing at what they do. As a Caution do not expect this to completely replace your current vacuum at home. This is an intelligent little robot that travels around your room sweeping the floor for you. Although it may not make since to you the pattern that roomba uses to get the floors clean they end up doing it. It will take longer than vacuuming yourself but in the end you are having to do it. I have purchased 2 of these and love them both as I now let them sweep on a daily (or nightly) basis. Nice thing is that they do a pretty good job of cleaning the floor. Its not perfect but used as a device for in between cleaning of the house it can keep the floors looking nice and extend the time between when you have to pull out the clunker of a vacuum you used to use.

    Irobot Roomba

    Created: 04/11/06
I really love my roomba, and can't imagine life without it now! I turn it on when I leave the house, and when I come home my entire floor, carpet, tile and all are clean! I empty the bin, charge it back up and it's ready to go again! It gets under furniture where my regular vacuum does not reach, and gets what often is missed (under tables etc) with a broom. Not only does it do a great job cleaning, but the customer service is awesome! I have had my roomba for almost a whole year now. The battery was not lasting as long as normal even when it had been fully charged. I contacted customer support yesterday night, and today (Saturday!)I got an email saying that a new battery was on the way! I don't even have to send the old one back! Try that with any other vacuum you buy, and I doubt you would have the same results!
