    Movie synopsis

Based on poet Ted Hughes' 1968 children's book, former SIMPSONS producer Brad Bird's adaptation proves to be a work of art the family can enjoy together--simple and visually captivating enough for kids and sharp and touching enough for adults. Hogarth is a young boy in 1950s Maine. When he finds a kind and very large robot (of unknown origin), a strong bond of friendship is formed between the two. It isn't long, however, until a government agent is on their trail, wanting to destory the robot. A beautifully rendered fable.

This was done with so much class it immediately enterd my "keep zone."
Vin Diesel's voice held such unwavering emotions through the Iron Giant
that I had a difficult time seeing the character as an obvious clunking robot programmed for destruction that the goverment (well, one G-man anyway) thought it to be.
It's difficult to call the Iron Giant an "it' but still to keep within the bounds of the storyline for anyone to recognize the character for the true
inspiration it represented for that era and the people, there would be no justification for the story line if it were recognized for anything more. Vin Diesel was outstanding and inspirational. The separation and melding of metal and emotion was perfect. I was just so enchanted by him.
Since watching that film, I began a collection of Vin Diesel's movies and I am up to date with the exception of one.
I am now buying for my friends.
This is an astounding and classic story written, produced, directed "and" portrayed by the best in the business.
I would recommend this film to everyone and I have!

    Good DVD, Great movie!

    Created: 08/08/06
The Iron Giant is easily one of the best animated features ever made. It has more soul than most kid flicks and entertains adults and kids alike. I bought this DVD, released in 1999, to play on my dvd player which had problems with the Special Edition DVD released a few years later. For content and special features both DVDs rate the same but for picture quality I suggest you buy the SE version. As I said the problem I had with my SE DVD was with my dvd player not the disc. So pick up the Special Edition unless you find a very inexpensive copy of this 1999 release.

    The Iron Giant is Magnetic!

    Created: 18/02/10
We bought this movie to replace a tape that we had worn out from watching it countless times. The Iron Giant is about a gigantic robot that crash lands on earth and the friendship formed between him and his human pal, Hogarth Hughes. Hogarth is an adventurous boy who teaches the robot about friendship, loyalty and believing in oneself. It has a lot of action, laughs, and a shares a powerful message. The cast is humorous, sweet and contagious and sure to please all ages.

    Good Story

    Created: 12/09/09
A movie for family and friends to watch together. I like that while it is child friendly, it doesn't try too hard to be. All the content flows naturally with the tale, which is itself a unique perspective of the story: The Iron Giant. None of the reactions or characters feel forced and overall the movie is enjoyable for anyone of any age group interested in a good fairy tale. Or who just like robots an aliens. :)
