It's Alive (DVD, 2004)

As usual, I tend to wanna review old horror movies from the 1970's that I saw as a kid!
For some reason, this movie scared the bejesus outta me when I saw it in the theatre, back in the day! The music soundtrack is eerie enough, but it starts out with the mother of the ill-fated baby waking up and saying 'It's time'. John Ryan, who plays the father, does his best to get her to the hospital; she's complaining that something is wrong and she's concerned. Sure enough, once she's in the OR, the doctors say "Here it comes" and soon after, one doctor staggers out of the OR with his throat slit & bleeding! The whole staff in the OR are all DEAD! The little baby has killed them all! The "It's Alive" baby escapes and the whole police force go out looking for 'It'!
Why this scared me at the age of 11 is stil;l a mystery to me, since we all know that nothing is more helpless than a newborn baby or puppy, kitten, etc. - so WHY was I so scared? I have no idea, but if you read the boards at IMDb.com, you'll see there are a slew of people (adults) who felt the same way back then and are still discussing it now, trying to deal with it on the boards like it's a therapy session! haha -
There are some okay scare-scenes, but the all-time best one is The Milkman! He opens up the back of his milk truck and THERE's the It's Alive baby, who reaches out it's claws and kills him! His blood mixes with the spilled milk as it streams down the hillside! CLASSIC scene! So, other than that, it's a rather silly movie, but still worth a watch for it's camp value. Maybe it should not be shown to children under 13, but....that's up to you.
As for It Lives Again, the sequel....It Sucks! There are a couple of good actors in it like the chef in 'Apocolypse Now' and the film magnate Woltz in 'The Godfather', but even they are not enough to save this one.

The trailer scared the crap out of me when it aired. I was 8 and it scarred me for life. This is a truly classic horror film! It is kinda silly, but it still keeps a creepy feel for the entire movie. A must have for any horror nerd!

Turn off the lights, grab your popcorn, and get ready for a thrill ride! Larry Cohen's It's Alive takes you to a place of fear and to some degree disgust. What a Taboo scenario: A Killer Mutant baby! Don't watch this one alone, or do. I you can handle it!

I bought IT'S ALIVE. What an awesome movie. I had seen it before when I was 9 years old. I had wanted to see it again since I got older. Now I got it and enjoyed seeing it again.

I had my feet in my chair when this movie came out in the 70's. I was a young teenager and this movie scared the cr.. out of me! I was anxious to see it again and found it on Ebay. Still a good movie, but cheesy compared to today's technology.
