Their deep, sensual harmonies, sometimes naughty lyrics and aggressive style immediately struck a responsive chord, particularly among male fans. Their CD shows their versatility, as they handled New Jack tunes, romantic ballads like "It's About Time," and sassy, innuendo-laden fare such as "Blak Pudd'n" and "That's What I Need." Their hits "Weak" and "Right Here" had the same blend of heat and vulnerability that underscore the best En Vogue material, and even though this CD was padded by remixes and repeats, it was still among the finest debuts issued in 1992. ~ Ron Wynn

3 Stars - Good - ...SWV's harmonies and [producer Brian] Morgan's songs make it a pleasure to be spoonfed...

...As kids SWV (Sisters With Voices) fantasized about New Edition. More potent than they're daydreaming was the vocal skill they honed in the hallways of Brooklyn and Bronx schools...they debut sassily with 15 cuts that mix mellow R&B, smooth-edged New Jack production and grittier rap-inflected delights....

As a female R&B group SWV ruled from 1992-1998

I brought this cd for the song "right here [human nature remix]". Even though the seller listed the track listing as the last song being "right here [vibe mix]", I still bought it thinking it was a typing mistake. Never the less, I guess RCA Records no longer makes that 1993 re-released cd version with the human nature remix from the Free Willy Original Soundtrack. I still have the tape from 1993 so I can still enjoy the song. RCA still lists the album as re-released in 1992 despite the real re-release year of 1993. Go figure... It should be obvious what I don't like about this new re-released cd version? Hahahaha! Add to that the foul language on "black puddin'", I definately hate. What I do love about this album and always have is the fact that it has different styles of music (of course in a New Jack Swing way) by the same artists, including rhyming. The front cover alone is appealing with Coko's long shiny brown legs. Hahahahaha! Excellent introduction by SWV to music industry!!!!

    Created: 01/02/10
All-female trio SWV (or Sisters with Voices) had a series of new jack swing hits during the 1990s that earned them a Grammy Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

SWV met when they were at school. They found they had a mutual interest in music and sung together in the church choir. It was there that they decided to make a career in music and recorded a demo. The tape came to the attention of producer Teddy Riley who was so impressed he took control of production of their debut album. It's About Time went double platinum, helped by several singles including "Weak" and "Right Here/Human Nature", both of which sold a million copies.

Collaborations with a number of artists, and a track for the film Above the Rim, kept the group in the limelight until they were ready to release their next album. It too had a big-selling hit single with "You're the One", which helped New Beginning up the charts and on to platinum sales.

When Release Some Tension didn't perform quite as well as their previous albums, the group split to pursue solo careers.

    I miss them

They were a hit when I was a teenager and this CD was my introduction to the trio. I didn't realize until now that the songs had no depth which is likely why the group didn't last. They were no doubt one of the best female groups of that time which is saying a lot because TLC, Salt & Pepa, Xscape, etc.,. were all blowing up but SWV clearly had their own style and this is what got and kept my attention on the female R&B side back then.

One of the best girl groups ever! Great cd!

I purchased this cd about 3 weeks ago because I needed to add this to my collection. SWV was one of the best girl groups in the 90's. I had one cd from them a long time ago, but it was serverely scratched from me playing it repeatedly. I Had to replace it. One of the best cds of all times! I recommend this to any person who enjoys true R& music!
