Album Notes
Composer: Jack Ingram. On THIS IS IT, his second album for the Big Machine label and first studio outing since 2004's YOUNG MAN, Jack Ingram offers up another well-honed set of country-rock tunes. Although considerably more accessible than predecessors such as Waylon Jennings and Steve Earle, the Texan singer/guitarist balances pop-inclined tracks (see the uplifting "Lips of an Angel," which, oddly enough, is originally by the rock band Hinder) with charming doses of twang and grit, as the gentle "Ava Adele" and the energetic "Measure of a Man" respectively reveal. While Ingram remains underrated, THIS IS IT reinforces his considerable talents, and should deservedly garner him a wider audience.

Editorial Reviews
[I]ts charming final four tracks are rooted in the alt-country tradition in which the raspy Texan got his start. -- Grade: B

I never thought I really liked any of Jack's music, but after I saw him live, I was proven wrong. He is a good entertainer. Naturally I went out and got the cd, "This Is It." It uaually takes a couple of listens of any cd to decide whether or not you like it and this one is much the same. It's got the singles "Love You" "Wherever You Are" "Measure of a Man" and one I thought I didn't like until I heard it live: "Lips of an Angel." 4 singles on one cd isn't all that bad, plus the other songs are good too!!! I gave this cd 4 out of 5 stars, mainly because the majority of the songs are good. Lyrically it is a sound album from start to finish. "Hold On" a duet with Sheryl Crow is a nice song that really tells about some of the important things that are often overlooked, but should be embraced. That said, it is not a sad song or a slow one by any means, it's upbeat and really worth a listen! The two voices blend nicely in my opinion. "Easy As 1,2,3 pt 2" is an ok track. It's another upbeat track but for some reason it gets a little repetative although it's barely over 2:30 long. "Ava Adele" is one of the slower numbers on the album that I believe was written about his daughter, but I don't relate to it at all. I've read a few reviews that gave this track lots of praise, but I must say it's one of my least favorites. It's too slow!! The lyrics of the song are good in that they show lots of emotion, but the song's not for me. My absolute favorite song on the record is "Make a Wish (Coming Home Again)." This is a great track that just rings of hope. It starts out somewhat slow, but get's much faster and is great to sing along with!! The musical instruments of the track are really great as well. I can't get enough of this track. Basically of the 12 tracks on the album, there are 6 or 7 that are really worth listening to. Unfortunately many artists of today barely get 10 tracks and call the album complete. 12 is not great, but there's plenty of good material to make most fans happy. Having said that, this cd is really worth a listen. Give it a chance and you will find something that you like.
