James Earl Jones Reads the Bible (2002, Unabridged, Compact Disc)

James Earl Jones has a great voice, and diction.

However, the fact he did not understand what he was reading is very evident in this publication of "The Bible."
JamesEarl Jones' mispronunciation of very key words pertaining to doctrine, such as... CIRCUMSCRIPTION...?!?! and, many other blatant mistakes show the editorial skills of the publisher, and the understanding of the reader to be lacking.
This is nothing more than a very poorly, and hastily thrown together piece of rubbish; produced for profit.

If you are just learning to read, or are unfamiliar with what The King James Version actually say's, you will only be confused by trusting what you hear in: James Earl Jones Reads The Bible.

I am so glad I ordered this! It's perfect for those struggling to find time to daily read God's word & still get their responsibilities accomplished. Mr. Jones soothing voice creates an appropriate atmosphere for hearing God's word, and the peaceful background music adds a special touch. On a humorous note, I decided to start my day concentrating on the Lord while listening to one of these CDs. Sitting upright in my recliner I found I became easily distracted by things reminding me of my duties, so I closed my eyes & leaned back to listen and concentrate on God. Well, Mr. Jones soothing voice, coupled with the calming background music, put me to sleep before he could even read the 3rd verse -- and I'd just gotten up after sleeping all night! This reading brought the reality of the scriptures home to me, especially those that say He gives His beloved sleep; and Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee. I didn't wake up for 3 hours, with the CD long ended; but it was a wonderful rest -- the best I've had in ages -- and I thank God for the opportunity to have this set. Whether driving down the highway or sweeping the floor while it plays, His word gets implanted in one's heart and, hopefully, lived through us. I encourage everyone to get a copy and use it daily. You'd be surprised how your outlook changes and your spiritual strength is renewed.

This is one of the best ways for those with vision problems or who can not read good to get the King James Version of the New Testament.

I do like to have James Earl Jones reading the Bible. The background music is distracting to me, however. I would have preferred just the reading of the scriptures without the background music.

this was a gift i was gonna buy my mom-in-law the year she passed away. thought about it later, and then they were'nt in stores near me..2 years passed, & i thought to myself...ya know, e-bay has everything under the sun for sale, let me check..and BAM .it popped right up..the price was wonderful.and who does'nt love james earl jones? i figured that i could'nt think of a more distinct and iconic voice to be reading the bible to me. awesome purchase..would do it again. thank you Dee
