JAWS Unleashed (Xbox, 2006)

I'll be the first to admit that JAWS UNLEASHED has more than its share glitches, gameplay that inspires just as much frustration as satisfaction and a default controller layout that's just wrong. However, what I would also admit is that JAWS UNLEASHED is refreshingly original, offers a variety of challenges, battles and puzzles throughout the story and side missions and has a free-roam aspect that's simply fun.
Contrary to the consensus of many of the mainstream reviews on this game, playing JAWS UNLEASHED is not a "poor" experience . As for any of the aforementioned pitfalls - they are balanced out nicely by the wickedly entertaining ability for you, as the title shark, to roam about whenever you wish and chomp away on swimmers, boaters, divers and various sea creatures - I mean, you gotta love it when you're able to select which specific limb you'd like to chomp on or if you'd rather just gulp someone down whole...
If you like the JAWS movies or if you're just looking for something different in an action/adventure type of game, try giving JAWS UNLEASHED a whirl. It's not the Game of the Year, by far -- but it's a decent "Game of the Week", for sure.

FIRST OFF THE CAMERA ANGLE SUCKS AND SO DOES THE CONTROLLER SET UP. OTHER THAN THAT IT'S GREAT. THE SHARK MOVES REALISTICALY, THE KILL SCEENS ARE AWSOME, THE PLOT IS GOOD. THE MUSIC FITS THE ATMOSPHERE, AND THERE ISN'T REALY ANYTHING CHEESY ABOUT IT. THE GAME CAN FREEZE ONCE IN A WHILE, IF AT ALL, AND SOMETIMES JAWS GETS STUCK AND YOU HAVE TO RESTART THE MISSION, BUT ALL IN ALL, IT'S WORTH THE BUY. YOU ARE FREE TO ROAM ALL YOU WANT ( AND BELIEVE ME THERE IS A LOT TO ROAM) AND YOU CAN EAT AND DESTROY ALL YOU WANT. THERE ARE SIDE MISSIONS IN ADDITION TO THE MAIN LEVEL. I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS AND AM NOT EVEN 20% DONE WITH THE GAME. I RECOMMEND THIS RATED "M" GAME TO ALL. I GUESS IT'S RATED "M" FOR THE DEATH AND BODY PARTS, BUT NOTHING MORE THAN THAT. MY 3 YEAR OLD THINKS ITS FUNNY.

I originally had this game for my PlayStation2. I had phased out the old PS and have been using an Xbox. I loved my Jaws game but it was too much work to pull out the out PS and plug it in etc. So, I got a version for the Xbox.

I enjoy the game. It's like Grand Theft Auto shark style. Just swim around and eat people and attack boats. It's mind-numbing fun.

I've seen reviews that state this game isn't realistic and that sharks don't carry torpedos. Well no kidding! People, don't take this game so serious!

This game is a few years old so the graphics are out of date. But still, I love it.

The great fish moved silently through the video game...it's bloody, it's gory, it's a boat load of fun! I really enjoy be the hunter, the not the hunted. This game is not only different, but fun. Ya it's bloody, but if you want to make an omlette, you gotta crack a few eggs! Like blood? Like gore? You'll Love this game! Oh ya, there are missions that you have to finish, there is a goal to this, it's not all eat 'em up fun...

definitely a game worth owning if you easily get bored with other games, a free world where you can dive into the mind of a great white and feed as you please, explore the sea, HEY LOOK ANOTHER LITTLE SHARK AHHHH, "that's right it's like reality, another shark will take a piece of you, so don't play around". many things to find and gain attribute points to make a stronger shark, bring nature's fury to any human around, "a guy's riding on a jet ski, and he's saying I'm alive, I'm alive, and Jaws says DEAD" oh yeah to parents, It's just a game!
