SynopsisIn this picture book based on an African American legend, a young girl named Jenny Reen stays in the slave quarters with Sister Louisa while her parents work in the fields. To pass the time, Sister Louisa tells Jenny Reen about the Jack Muh Lantern, a monster who lives in the nearby swamp. Although Jenny Reen knows to be wary of the swamp, she forgets herself one day and follows a butterfly into the home of the monster. Will Jenny Reen be able to escape from the Jack Muh Lantern?
